Publisher's Summary

He was the most powerful Sith lord who ever lived... but could he be the only one who never died?

“Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise that he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life. He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying." -Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Darth Plagueis: one of the most brilliant Sith Lords who ever lived. Possessing power is all he desires. Losing it is the only thing he fears. As an apprentice, he embraces the ruthless ways of the Sith. And when the time is right, he destroys his Master - but vows never to suffer the same fate. For like no other disciple of the dark side, Darth Plagueis learns to command the ultimate power... over life and death.

Darth Sidious: Plagueis’s chosen apprentice. Under the guidance of his Master, he secretly studies the ways of the Sith, while publicly rising to power in the galactic government, first as Senator, then as Chancellor, and eventually as Emperor.

Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious, Master and acolyte, target the galaxy for domination - and the Jedi Order for annihilation. But can they defy the merciless Sith tradition? Or will the desire of one to rule supreme, and the dream of the other to live forever, sow the seeds of their destruction?

Very much enjoyed the audio book. I was very happy with the narrator selection; I very much enjoyed his presentation of the characters as well as the narration.

Star Wars is one of my first loves and getting to understand the back story/Backroom dealings that lead to up to the movies I love is a great experience. I was very happy with the story and felt it was well told.

    I highly recommend this book!

"The tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise"
What did you love best about Star Wars: Darth Plagueis?

Darth Plegueis vs Venamis, his retaliation vs the ex king of naboo. And if you have heard or read Maul: Lockdown you know how the bando gora get their weapon used to attack the Dark Lord.

What other book might you compare Star Wars: Darth Plagueis to and why?

Darth Bane Trilogy, and Maul: Lockdown. They all make you want to see the Dark Lord prevail.

Which character – as performed by Daniel Davis – was your favorite?

Darth Tenebrous. But his Palpatine was great considering we all already know one voice for him, he was excellent. Nute Gunray, the Neimodian was hilarious.

"Anthony Heald is such a better narrator"

I loved the book, but the performance made me feel like I just dropped a hot steamy load in my pants. Anthony Heald is clearly the best narrator of all time. Between the saliva sloshing, the tongue clicking, and the old woman impressions, my boy Anthony was absolutely fantastic. Also, Anthony Heald has the worst poo-poo stank on Wednesdays, so dont get anywhere near him.

Superb pacing and riveting characters. This work is a worthy addition to the Star Wars non-canon.

"The Best EU book to date.Including Thrawn Trilogy!"
Would you listen to Star Wars: Darth Plagueis again? Why?

Great Read! As close to cannon as you can get for an EU book! I can't say enough about it. I wish all Star Wars novels could live up to this one. The book explained much of the backround for Ep I. I absolutely loved it!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: Darth Plagueis?

There's so many of them!!! Watching Plagueis and Sidious manipulate everything and everyone, And Explaining some of the backstory and motivations of Sifo-dyas and Doo-koo was very well done.

Have you listened to any of Daniel Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

It was my first time listening to him. I was impressed with his voice quality and tone. To be honest, No disrespect to the other Star Wars voices, but He was a welcome change. I won't miss the brooding, monotone of some of the other readers. I do love Jonathan Davis though, but this was a nice change, especially considering a lot of the book involves dialogue and not action sequences.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Seeing Mauls backstory! Very cool!

    Any additional comments?

A must read or listen to for every true Star Wars fan!

    "Meh"

As a prequel to the prequel trilogy, it really wasn't bad. Almost every main character makes an appearance, but that's about the extent of the enjoyment I got of this book. A lot of the story is pretty boring as a large part of the story is revolved around the political aspect of Star Wars. Frankly, those are usually the parts I tune out during the movies. The action aspects are very few. Another thing is sometimes the voices are hard to distinguish from each other. Not a bad listen, but not my favorite.

This should be cannon, this is what the Phantom Menace should have been. This fills many plot holes in the Prequels.

"Great story of the rise and fall of Darth Plagueis"
Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars: Darth Plagueis to be better than the print version?

Having this book available on Audible allowed me to listen to it while I worked without being distracted having a book in hand.

    Any additional comments?

This book was a great read/listen. I was hooked from start to finish.
