Publisher's summary

Start as a RECRUIT...become a SUPER-SOLDIER...end up a GALACTIC WARLORD.

Don your armor, load up on ammo, and get ready for your combat training. You don't become a badass by signing on the dotted line, you gotta earn it the hard way...same goes for your team. You have to learn to fight, how to work together, and how to lose...for the ancient origins of humanity on Earth are dark, devastating, and destined to return. Earth is going to lose, and lose badly when our time is up, but out of the ashes of defeat, we may be able to scrounge up a future if you and the other future warlords can learn how to overcome the losses and turn them to our advantage.

And the one advantage we have is the repository of ancient knowledge left behind when our former masters abandoned Earth during a civil war. They assume everyone died, but a few human slaves remained and now we live only because of that mistake.

But they didn't just make one. Their second was leaving the most heavily defended and valuable building on the planet intact because destroying it along with the others when they bugged out would be too time-consuming. Instead, they buried it and now we have limited access to the advanced technology and database inside. From it we know the truth about our ancestry, as well as the superhuman powers they laced into our genome...and because of those powers, any human not under their direct control carries with them an automatic death sentence.

So when we're found out, we're all going to die...unless you and your team can grow into the war leaders we need, figure out how to use the ancient technology as well as those who created it, and find a way to do the impossible and overcome a galactic empire millions of years old. An empire known as the V'kit'no'sat, which Earth hilariously misinterpreted as a group of extinct animals called the Dinosaurs.

Narration deteriorates as book continues

The narrator for some reason kept her unfortunate drone but then became very staccato in book 4. Read the book instead and DON’T buy this!

lots of filler

very slow as far as main story. also with the narrator you can almost hear background noises and clicks and stuff and her reading is so start and stop you that it makes it hard to follow.

might be an experimental AI narrating.

good story but Google reads better to kids. distracting but if you speed it up a bit it helps.

Bad narrator

The story was very good but this was some of the wosrt narration I have experienced. Am I wrong to assume that there is some form of quality control for an audio production? Bad job of it.

great book, terrible narrator

This is not a statement about the narrator as a person, and she did have a wonderful voice.. but she read like each word was isolated and not part of a sentence. There was a lot of noise in addition to the narrators voice as well. The narrator could not properly pronounce many of the words. She is probably a better narrator than I would be though, so that is something.

For the first 2 chapters I only stuck with it hopi g the narrator would get her footing and make it easier to listen. After the first 2 chapters though I was hooked enough on the story that I kept listening despite the narration, and it never disappointed. I will absolutely be going further in this series, and I am happy to see it looks like it has a new narrator for the rest.

Poor narration

The tempo of the reading didn’t match the writing that was obvious. I don’t think this person read the book 1st or the passages before reading them into the microphone.

The performance......

Please. Record. The. Narration. Over. Again.

Seriously, I couldn't even get through the first chapter because the narration was just terrible. Was it not edited? I can understand spacing out sentences to give it a bit of separation for the editor to shorten in post, but jesus....every word?

The syfy elements for this story are interesting and has the makings for a great story but this story was performed as very boring report.

To drawn out and not enough action...

The story seems like a writing lesson from school. The world and character development is shallow. I have read and listened to many stories, and this has potential. The first 4 books should read be just 1 book with half the school lessons and more world development.

As for the narrator, the person reads like a robot imitating William Shatner. The person should work on reading a story like a flowing river instead of the choppy way it's read now. I've purchased many Audible books and I think this is the worst narration I've heard so fast.

I wanted to like it. but NO.

I wanted to like it. but no. The daily chore of listening to daily stuff was boring just wanted the story to progress and find a rhythm instead of the mundane daily routine. I didn't finish.
