Publisher's Summary

What would you do if an evil empress was enslaving the galaxy? Well, kick her ass, free the slaves, and roar defiantly. Well, you would if you were a dragon. When David Briggs beats the final level of Star Conqueror, that's exactly what happens to him. Gaining the power to become a fire-breathing dragon and recruited by alien freedom fighters, he has one chance to save the galaxy.

There's just one problem. To stop her, he will have to break the mind control of a million super-hot female warriors, storm a hundred planets, and fight through armies of mechs. Then again, you know what they say: if you want to save the world, you better bring a dragon.

Greetings Star Conquerer, you have been recruited

Lordy, lordy, lordy. What has Cipriano done now? He has created a Homage to one of my all time favorite movies, and made it LITRPG to boot! That is like getting Ice cream with sprinkles when you asked for yogurt. In fact, I would say that he almost molded Alex Rogan and Grig into one character. How crazy is that?!? Oh, for those of you not in the know this book is a rather loving homage to the movie, The Last Starfighter. It holds a ton of 80's references and nods to the movie. Oh, as an added bonus it is also what is known as a Harem Lit type of book, since he main character, David Briggs (Grigs?) collects hot chicks and takes them like it was the last night in the universe and he has a huge box of Viagra-laced condoms. While there is sex, it isn't as heavy as it could be, J.A. holds back a little.

Either way, this story is on fire, and I personally think that this is some of his best work ever. I love a lot of his writings, but this wing ding just blasted me out of the water and into the deep fryer. It is sizzling hot with action, sex, violence, and to top it all off the MC can breath fire. Cipriano clearly loved writing this book, it literally leaps off the page and Superfly Snuka's you into submission. You will not want to come up for air until you are purple in the face. I am so jazzed. I think I am going to relisten to this again tomorrow.

Oh, and I have to comment on the incredibly amazing job Luke Daniels did with this book. He is a class A level narrator, and he takes this story runs runs off with it like he is taking it home. He will just blow your mind. I suspect that he is my secnd favorite narrator at this point, and the more I hear from him the moreI am impressed. Seriously, I can only say that he is pleasant to listen to, nails each and every character's personality, and does voices like he was Rich Little on Meth.

I cannot go without saying how much I love this cover. With me, Cipriano's covers are gamut of great to mid-level art. This cover is stunning. If I were a teen I would have that as a poster on my wall, as it stands you cannot deny that it grabs you eye and squeezes until you want to learn more about the book. It is hard core one hundred percent.

Cipriano is one of my favorite writers, but this book has literally made me rethink my grading system, because it is such a blast. It fires on every cylinder, and takes off like it was the Mach Five competing in Death Race 2000. I can only say that I want MORE of this. Moar! Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

Entertaining space fantasy

Star Conqueror is an entertaining space fantasy with game elements, a dragon shifter, and a bit of a Star Wars feel. The fun audiobook is brought to life by a terrific narrator.

Alas, this book is for adults only thanks to the sexual content (and plenty of violence too). This is the start of a harem series, so be prepared. (If the author wanted to release a PG version for the kiddos at some later date, it'd probably be quite popular.)

For those who may be curious about the comparison between this book and a popular tiger shifter series, rest assured that while there are certainly similarities and the books appeal to much of the same audience, this is definitely a unique and wonderful book.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Wow what a Narrator.

The key to a successful Audio Book is the Narrator well you have it here. The Author is talented in writing many Books in this genre but it is the great performance that makes this a very entertaining experience.

The book is not unique there are ideas which are taken from other plots but the performance gives the story the life it would not have with most other performers.

A wonderful collaboration between author&narrator

This was my sixteenth read from author J.A. Cipriano, yes I like this author, but I'm not really a fan of shifter books and there are some aspects of that in this book, but that's me, many people like that. An enjoyable read with some aspects of the FRP genre and many readers like that. A different aspect is basing the book on a video game and then launching it into space. Narrator Luke Daniels voice inflections added greatly to my re-reading of this book, since I own both the Kindle & Audible versions I was able to follow along, reading while listening. Enough I try not to do spoilers, buy the book, read the book, get into this enjoyable author as I have.

Loved it.

Along with one of the better books in this genre, the narrator, who reminds me of Nathan Fillion, is a perfect fit. I can't wait until the next one. I received this audio book for free at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Decent Space Opera LitRPG Rescued by Luke Daniels

This review is for the Audiobook version of Star Conqueror by J. A. Cipriano and performed by Luke Daniels.

We are living in the golden age of fanfic and that's a great thing! Star Conqueror feels derivative of so many genre classics. So many classics that it's almost not worth acknowledging them all. I said almost. So, I'll only name one. The Last Star Fighter (and Ernest Cline's recent TLSF homage, Armada, so that's two I'm naming. Sue me).

What starts off as a VR-fueled nod to TSLF quickly morphs into a LitRPG-styled Space Opera where our protagonist who has been groomed for real-life alien combat thanks to countless hours playing video games.

Star Conqueror is at its best when playing with the video game mechanics and using them in his fights/battles. Parts of this book are really fun and

Where I struggle with this title in the treatment of female characters--all of whom are little more than sexual objects (albeit willing objects) for the protagonist, David Briggs. Not my cup of tea.

What really kicks Star Conqueror up a notch is another stellar performance by audiobook superstar, Luke Daniels. Dude makes everything he reads enjoyable. Daniels takes a 2.5 story (average) and elevates it to a 3.5 at least.

A good listen if you are waiting for other books

Luke Daniels is a great narrator, i like his style and he delivered it.

However, the story just dont have the pull that makes you want to know more about the overarching story. It wasnt boring, the pacing is fine. In fact the story kicked into high gear from the start. However, the world building is slightly lacking so it hard to fall in love with the narrative.

its a story about adventure and discovery but it didnt make me want to follow the protagonist on his next adventure.

if you are looking for a book to fill in the time in between other series or books, this book will do just that.

if you are looking to start a new series or a journey, this is probably not what you aree looking for.

Space fantasy and nostalgia combine for fun

Combine 80's sci-fi action movies, modern LitRPGs and have Luke Daniels narrate it, and you get a thoroughly entertaining and funny ride. I always enjoy the way LitRPGs try and come up with how they suck the main characters into their world, and this one takes a page right out of an old sci-fi classic movie (The Last Starfighter). After David Briggs manages to be the only person to beat Star Conqueror, he comes to find out it was, in fact, a game designed to find someone to fight an evil tyrannical force controlling the galaxy. Throw in some alien races, dragons and everything in between and mix with a healthy dose of humor.

Luke Daniels goes to town on this book, he nails all of the voices (are you kidding me with that dragon voice), and his delivery and pacing are great. He has a huge range of voices for every character and I can't wait to hear the other races/factions that are sure to come in future books.

A fast, fun and entertaining first outing with excellent narration that has me wanting to read the next book.

This reads like a Teenagers wet-dream of an RPG

This reads like a Teenagers wet-dream of an RPG, crossed with an old movie called The Last Starfighter (1984).remixed to protect the guilty..... the narration is good but over the top which I blame on the subject matter and characters, not the narrators. if want to see a good box of this genre try The Way of the Shaman By Vasily Mahanenko

Simple, fun, sexy and exciting

Was an action packed story with characters that were enjoyable and not overly serious in nature. Though some disbelief needs to be suspended for the story but it’s fun easygoing nature made me not care too much about it.
