Publisher's Summary

Coyote shapeshifter Mercy Thompson is attacked and abducted in her home territory. Fighting off a crazed werewolf, she manages to escape, only to find herself alone in the heart of Europe, without money, without clothing and on the run from the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world.

Unable to contact her pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, but first she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy needs to be at her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves - and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise....

Worthwhile listen

A nice addition to the Mercy series. The male narrator was good but I felt he was unnecessary.

Great story

The story is as always excellent but I didn't like having two narrators. For me Lorelei King on her own would have been better.

Patricia Briggs Brilliance Continues

The Mercy Thompson story continues at a pace. This is book 10 in the series and is as strong as ever.
Patricia's writing has produced strong characterisation with new individuals being introduced with fully developed personalities, some good and some not so good.
As often happens the storyline starts with Mercy happy and content and then her world falls to pieces. this time she ends up in another country, at the start having to rely on her own abilities.
Will definitely reread and I would highly recommend this book but I would, also say start at the beginning of this series, all the books are brilliant.

Great story

Another good book in the series. Ms. King narrated very well as usual but the narration by Mr. Newborn felt stilted and did not blend well with ms. King.

Silence Fallen

Another really great book by Patrica Briggs, the new characters blend well into the story. I did not have problems with the time line, but I guess the chaper intro helps. Read brilliantly by Lorelei King and George Newburn has done well to keep up with Lorelei's story telling. Superb

Good story Narration doesn't work

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend the book but only to someone who was already into Mercys world. Might suggest reading a text version though.

What did you like best about this story?

Mercy I just love her knack of getting in to trouble and somehow getting out of it leaving the world a better place

How could the performance have been better?

Nothing wrong with the actual performances themselves but using 2 narrators didn't work. Lorelei has done a great job narrating all the previous books all the characters have their voices. Bringing in a second narrator for Adams scenes spoilt things for me. Lorelei could and should have done the whole book.

Great story as ever, slightly offputting narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story is fantastically worthwhile, not a good place to start in the mercyverse though

Did Lorelei King and George Newburn do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

They differentiated the characters well enough, but the accents were offputtingly poor. It's vexingly rare to find an American narrator that can convincingly differentiate European accents.

loved it! one of my favorite characters!

i love that mercy can save herself instead of being the damsel in distress! ts refreshing to have a female character that is practicsl in her thought process even if she is fictional

A must get book!!!!!

I have been a fan of Mercy Thompson series since the first book and each book gets better and better.
I got impression of a several surprises along the way but when it happened it still blind sided me.
If you have loved the previous Merrcy stories then this book wont disappoint.
If you have never read them., then you can read any of the book as a standalone BUT there is some subtext/storyline that will be miss.
***
The Narrators did a fantastic job. I normally dislike when a man reads a chapter and then a female because it ruins the consistency of the characters. In this case, because the setting and the people were manly different between the George reading of Adam's part and Lorelei reading of Mercy's part, there was very little issue. I was still able to really enjoy George and Lorelei reading of the book.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
