Publisher's summary

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh — a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds. In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves. Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world... or destroy it.

Fantastic ... did not disappoint.

I only became interested in this series within the last month. The author's Highlander series is one of my favorites but I was a little gun-shy to see that she was departing from her usual style and genre. I am glad to see how very wrong I was to hesitate. This series has been a fantastic and wild ride and ends in such a gripping manner that Ms. Moning's fans will be left breathless and satisfied.

It was unfortunate the earlier books were not performed by the dynamic team of Natalie Ross & Phil Gigante. I am sure that Joyce Bean does an adequate job but from the samples offered she sounded much too old to be an early 20's girl from the south. Not to mention that Mr. Gigante has a talent at portraying Ms. Moning's very strong male characters.

Definitely a must get.

THIS IS THE #1 MOST ADDICTING FANTASY SERIES EVER!

First, I need to point out that this audiobook was incredible. Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante did a remarkable job. Their interaction and how they portrayed emotions was just perfection. They clearly made the characters come alive. Shadowfever is the fifth & final installment (for now) of the Fever series. And what an ending it was!! This book was an undeniably explosion! It was emotional, intense, sexy, infuriating at times and laugh-out-loud funny in others. I absolutely loved it. While the series as a whole didn't start off as explosively for me, it certainly kept improving steadily till the end. It's almost impossible to discuss Shadowfever without getting into spoilers; and I'd never want to ruin anything from this story. I am going to make this spoiler free so it may be vague and it may not be very insightful. The series as a whole has some of the most elaborate and well thought-out world building I've ever encountered. Shadowfever had every bit of mystery, adventure, suspense, thrill, love and lost that you want in a fantasy series. You will be utterly shocked, saddened, angry and happy all at the same time. Its the type of book that makes you think, assume things, and then chaos hits. You realize you were completely off. Each book in the series is unique. Darkfever was just an intro, and a bit slower paced but very relevant. The main point happens after the end of the 3rd book -Faefever, which had one hell of a cruel ending. As well as Dreamfever, which also had one hell of a shocker in the end. I especially loved Shadowfever because everything becomes finally answered. All I'll say is that Book 5 is even more AWESOME!!! This was an emotional roller coaster that made me hold my breath until the very end. I struggled with so many emotions. I was feeling hope, then that was shattered, I cried and laughed. This book captivated me. The whole series is addicting especially Shadowfever. To all those that haven't started this series yet just be prepared to devour each book back to back. If I could I would give more than 5 stars. This series was AMAZING.

Bravo KMM! What an ending!

I love this series, but the final book just blew me away! KMM writing style reminds me of a chess player who always thinks dozens of moves ahead to the final winning move. In Shadowfever she crafts her final play by bringing all of her strategic moves made in the series to an amazing, complex and astonishing conclusion. This is Urban Fantasy romance done right. Wow, I loved it!

You will want to read them back-to-back, and you need to start from the beginning of the series with Darkfever. I've read and listened to the series, and couldn't recommend this series enough in the audio format. Some books are made for audio, and this series is one of them.

You MUST get this book!!

I wish all of my books could be read by Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante, this book is fabulous. I have waited it seems like forever for this book to come out and it does not disappoint!!

It isn't listed as a romance and I can see why but there is still the underlying romantic tension between Mac and Jericho.

There is so much I want to say about this book I don't know where to start so I will just say that this book is definitely worth the money! You will not be disappointed.

Satisfying

A fantastic end to a great series! It's a thrill ride and every time you think you have it figured you're in for a surprise. I don't normally like multiple narrators but it works perfectly in this book. You really need to start at the beginning of the series before getting this one. You won't be disappointed.

21 people listened to a 19 hr book in <12 hrs?

I have been anxiously awaiting this book after the huge cliffhanger in the last book, but on the day it was published I checked the reviews. There were 21 people on the first day giving it 5 stars. Really? For a book that is 19 hrs long? Sounds like an overdone marketing campaign to me. Since I had been waiting so long for the book, I decided to read it anyway. I liked it, but I was going to give it 1 star just out of protest. Instead, I decided to give it the score it deserved and add this comment. This book did wrap up a lot of outstanding items and but it certainly isn't the most amazing book I have ever listened to. I would have liked it better with some better editing. This easily could have been 10-12 hrs rather than 19. If I had been reading rather than listening, I would have skipped over huge sections. Maybe that is what the 21 reviewers did, but if so, how could they give it 5 stars?

Not a good read

Honestly, If I wanted to constantly hear a whiny girl repeat herself and complain about everything, I could go talk to my daughter. Redundant, annoying, and boring.

A fine series

Like all of the other reviewers, I enjoyed this series.

My only comment about this book is that it is very dependent upon the earlier books. I think that while Shadowfever did a great job of pulling it all together, it would be more than a bit confusing as a standalone work.

The Highlander series (also very enjoyable) works better as separate works. This is a series that you really need to start with the first book.

I loved it, but its not for everyone

Wow! This was a great ending to an OK series. Unfortunately, I would suggest reading all 4 previous books before starting this one. (Which is a huge listening investment). Don't get me wrong I liked the entire series but at times it did drag on. If you like Paranormal Romance then this book (series) is for you. Although I found the entire series a little light on the romance part.
I loved the narration but my opinion is definitely biased (Natalie and Phil are my favorite)
