"A wonderful free gift from Audible"

That was the best narration I ever heard! It amazed me when I realized it was the author's reading--it sounded like he had professional training. The novella was very suspenseful and the really drew me in. It was nice to finish the story in a little over an hour, too.

    "what?!?!"

This book made no sense at all. The recording uses eerie music in an attempt to heighten the dramatic tension that is altogether lacking in the text. The author totally fails to provide any motivation or rationale for anything that happens in the narrative, and I finished the book feeling utterly unconvinced and confused..

    "I guess I didn't get it..."

I'm sorry... I couldn't finish this book. I did get over half way through though.
I'm all for epic tales, meaningful journeys and people struggling through struggle-stuff but this just didn't keep my interest.
it was very softly (epicly) spoken by the author. I had a hard time understanding some things and he would go in and out of an accent. there were some sounds to help "keep you in the mood" but I didn't feel it.
The story... sort of went in circles. there would be an explanation of something then it would get explained again, then again, then the lead would ponder stuff for a few minutes, then it would stray off into something unrelated for a while and finally throw you back into what was allegedly happening...
Honestly I may have been able to understand the story a little better if it was just... spoken...
I would find my mind wandering as the story dribbled along and find myself all of a sudden having no clue what was happening. I would rewind to try to figure it out... then it would lose me again.
again, I'm sorry... I just couldn't get into it.

    "Super metaphoric!"

I got this book for free via Audible. Thank goodness. I will have to say, this audiobook was better than some other ones I got for free on Audible. The story was "okay." It was predictable, but done well. It was very slow at some parts and I lost concentration. What helped the story was that the writer had a clear plan to illustrate the idea of consequences of one's actions. The performance was good, but not amazing. It was read by author, which is ALWAYS a risk. I felt like Eric was whispering the entire audiobook as if he was trying not to wake up a sleeping baby. He also slurred several words and it was difficult to understand at some points--his diction was not 100%. I did like the music throughout and the echoing when the crimson queen was talking. At the end of the audiobook, Eric took it upon himself to say that if the listener doesn't like cinematic audiobooks, then his books are not for them. Well, I love cinematic audiobooks, as long as they are done correctly. ;)
