Publisher's summary

Carthenne Rel survived the Hjan attack on the A'ras and has left the north, the only place she ever really known. Now she travels to better understand what it means that she's shadow born. Stranded by storms in a dangerous port city, she's captured while helping rescue a young girl from slavers. Discovering her mysterious captor's agenda forces her to play his games in order to escape, only to realize she hasn't finished with the Hjan. The lessons her captor has taught just might be the key to defeating them for good while protecting all of the north.

If you have gotten this far.....

Any additional comments?

If you have gotten this far in the series, I don't think you will be violently disappointed. I also don't think you will be fully satisfied either. The series "could" end with this book...so the end of the book felt nice. However, the pacing of the book felt less thought out then the first book(which is still the best in the series). I had this feeling of a Monty Python routine while listening to the book..."and then, and then, and then, and then". So, the book does move, but it just doesn't feel satisfying when it does move. With the negativity done with, I still like the characters and the story...wish they were longer for my credits worth...getting to the point of being a short story here. I would recommend this book, especially if you have gotten this far in the series.
