A Great Space Opera

I have enjoyed Ryk Brown’s books. This book is a bit different in that Nathan and Jessica have gone off to make a deal with Sanctuary. They want medical care for Nathan’s sister and a source to purchase arms and supplies. The Sanctuary is very secure, therefore, ideal for Nathan’s group, but it is also a place of outlaws. Nathan has left Cameron in command of the Aurora and the war.

The book is well written. Brown continues to develop the characters. The plots twists and turns. This book is far more emotional than the prior books. This book has a bit less action than the other ones, but we get to see the human side of some of the characters. I cannot wait for the next episode.

The book is eleven hours. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the book. Kafer is a voice-over artist and is now a full-time audiobook narrator. He has won multiple Earphone Awards.

Tied for first out of series of Books.

The first book of the frontiers saga is still my favorite, but now that this book is as good and exciting and moving as the first book. If you have not read the series and are looking at reading this book, start a book one… and read on!.
Ryk Brown's frontier saga has ruined all other science fiction sagas for me, as I find myself comparing other authors to the Frontiers Saga writing standard. The frontiers saga are outstandingly written.
The only thing that I was disappointed with was that this book has far more foul language than the other books. It would be nice to have a series of books of this caliber that I could recommend to my grandchildren. The characters are deep, individualized and Brown is one of the best authors at avoiding cliché in a very difficult genre.

Ugh... getting crappy now...

the story is starting to get overtaken by bad melodrama and monologuing from Hollywood quality villains and horrible space physics.

the story was actually very engaging and fascinating but now it's just starting to Embrace cheap gimmicks and emotional manipulation like the worst crap on Modern television. if this keeps up I may not be able to finish the series.

Really could have been better

I'm in since the beginning and this book could have been much better. The last two chapters tried hard to redeem the previous book of lost narratives, rehashed prior plots and spiralling downplay of the main protagonists.

There were plenty of opportunities passed by in gaining allies and material support. There were equipment acquisitions that didn't make sense like gaining a small fighter instead of a capital ship.

It is my hope that we get some distance from endless talk and restart actions like retaking the Pentarus Cluster, realigning with EDF, and possibly letting all know the romance between Nash and Scott is not a bromance all the time.

There still could be some redeeming from this book but I see several books of effort to unbury the open ended plot failures created herein. IMHO.

Incredible!!!!

I absolutely love this series. I binged the entire first part of the series, and now have to wait (impatiently) for each new book of the Rogue Castes Series to come out. Can not wait for the next one!

Great series

I do not write a lot of reviews but after listening to this book and actually the entire series to this point for the fourth or fifth time I felt compelled to share my feelings with all of you. If only to get one other person to listen to this series that may be on the fence about it. This is one of the greatest series I have listened to, the characters are believable and the emotion ties start off subtle but the more you listen the closer they get to you. You live their trials and tribulations with them. Not as a witness to them but as if you really are there in the moment with them. I do not want to give much away for new fans but I will explain this this way. I read and listen to a lot of books, there are a select few that can stir emotion out of me and this one has on several occasions. I have laughed and actually cried during this series. My hat is off to both the author and the reader of this series. Great job! I also wanted to say thank you!
