Publisher's Summary

Long before the coming of the Imperium, the realm of Ultramar was ruled by Roboute Guilliman, the last Battle King of Macragge. Even after learning of his true heritage as a primarch son of the Emperor of Mankind, he strove to expand his domain as efficiently and benevolently as possible, with the XIII Legion Ultramarines as his alone to command.

Now, facing a rival empire on the ork-held world of Thoas, Guilliman must choose his weapons carefully - otherwise his dream of a brighter future could be lost forever.

Good

A interesting look at the beginnings of the Codex Astartes and Roboute Guilliam. I wish it covered more than one battle.

Good book

It is a short audio book but the fighting starts early and stops at the very end of the book. Enjoyed this one a lot.

A great addition to The Dark Imperium

This gives context to Guillemans thoughts after his reappearance and shows us his insight into the Emperors plan for the Imperium.

An excellent insight into Guilliman

This is what I had hoped all of the books in the Primarch series would be like. One walk away with a much better understanding of how Guilliman thinks & feels about himself, his Legion, the Emperor & the Great Crusade.

The story itself is good, if anti-climactic. This feels like the TV show “Lost” if the Ultramarines were there. It is engaging, mysterious, & perfect for illustrating the Primarch.

The narration is adequate. The whole book is just Ultramarines speaking, so very little variation is speech, but that is appropriate. Me. Longworth is perfectly fine, if unmemorable.

nothing new here

this is a somewhat tedious tale of war with orks. the book offers no new insights into Guilliman's character or thoughts, which should be the point of this series. it's not a bad story... but it never once grips the reader/listener.

Cool, nicely read but short.

Toby Longworth should read allblack library's collection. awesome voicing for characters in the story. talking of which, I would have loved that to be alot longer. But what there was, entertained me immensely.

Below par

A disappointing insight into Roboute Guilliman, not aided by the narrator pronouncing his name as Gilly-man for 75% of the book. Well performed otherwise, but not an interesting story compared to the other Primarch books. I listened to this one last for the sake of completion.
