Publisher's summary

Tanner Malone is starting to enjoy his navy post in the honor guard. After surviving violent conflicts with space pirates in the void, he hopes to stay out of the stars for a while. But when the government of Archangel, a prosperous Union state including four terraformed worlds, makes a dangerous decision to defy the Big Three's corporate dominance, war threatens the galaxy.

The interstellar fighting escalates, and duty calls a reluctant Tanner to the front lines, where it becomes more and more difficult to tell the difference between politician, pirate, and protector. When secret intel reveals a vast network of bloody covert operations, along with a rigged economic system that enslaves its members, Tanner finds himself at the perilous intersection between the government, the Big Three, and pirates who will stop at nothing to remain free.

This series gets better and better

Yes, it's a middle series book. No, it's not boring. This series impresses me. There's a hidden depth to the plotting, the characters are well developed and not static, the politics are more mature and the description of corporate intrigue are given more thought than the generic corporate bad guy in an SF novel. Oh, and the battles continue to be fast paced and brutal.

Space Opera, Nothing More

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I've listened to both books. The stories aren't bad, but there is not much substance there, and you don't really learn anything or have to think about anything. It's a space opera, plain and simple. A rather silly premise, but that's space opera for you.

Excellent follow up/conclusion (?)

An excellent follow up to the original. Great work Mr. Kay. I was not expecting this series to be as good as you have made it. Great stroy.

Non Stop Action

Similar to the book one of the “Poor Man’s Fight” series, heroes and villains struggle for control and leave behind a path of corpses through space. Hard to believe anyone is left alive for the series finale.

Another Great story

Really enjoyed this second book. The battles get more intense, the characters continue to grow, and the War Begins.

Excellent series. Is the 3rd book imminent?

This is an excellent series. It is well written and it reminds me of my Navy training days. I'm pretty sure the protagonist should have ptsd by now. In addition, how will Tanner ever meet Miranda or Kelly on the same level without a commission?

Masterfully Executed

This second installment was phenomenal. The absolutely immersive interstellar saga had me so engrossed that I can hardly wait for part three.

Excellent

The story continues to be very interesting. It wasn't quite as much of a "nail biter" as book 1, but still very well written, a good pace, good characters, and an interesting story. A bit preachy, but relevant to modern times. I'm adding book 3 to my wish list.

Amazing 2nd Book

Normally the 2nd book in any series sucks when compared to the first book. But with Rich Man’s War I believe this to be a excellent continuation of the story.

This was better than book 1...

Tanner Malone is starting to become a reluctant mythical character that finally embraces the nature of what he appears to be.
