Power that’s growing ever more impossible to hide …

Captain Telryn “Trip” Yert is on the most important mission of his life. Accompanied by Captain Kaika, the sentient soulblade Jaxi, and Rysha Ravenwood - the noble-born scholar and officer he definitely shouldn’t be developing feelings for - he must find a way to close a portal that’s allowing more and more dragons into the world. If he fails, all of humanity could fall to the powerful creatures.

As if that wasn’t enough to worry about, the secret Trip has spent his whole life hiding, that he can draw upon magical power, is on the verge of being discovered. What will his superior officers think when they find out? What will Rysha think?

But as Trip will soon discover, what he thought he knew about himself is only a shadow of the truth. Reality is far more incredible than he ever imagined.

Great story but sadly recursive + flat characters

The story is fantastic. I wouldn't change anything really meaningful in it to make it better. The problem is that the character relationships are recursive and flat as hell. The constant lead up, then draw back in the relationship between the two main characters makes it have the feeling that it's going to be like this for every single book of this series until probably the last book where it all works out. Basically every other character is 1- dimensional as heck through the book. They just follow their tropes in most every situation.

Not even to mention if you look at the relationship between Trip and Rysha from Trip's perspective, It looks like Rysha basically used him for attention the entire book then said "oh NVM my work will get in the way" to Trip at the end of the book despite leading him on for the entire story. The way the author wrote it makes her look more like an attention whore than anything else; and makes Trip look like a dumbass for not thinking it through to the same logical conclusion about her. Since the author made her as smart as she is, the excuse couldn't even be made that she didn't think about it until the end of the book.

When characters are written like that it turns off the reader to keep reading on. Dynamic relationships are interesting, recursive ones are boring and if they are filled with angst the entire time its honestly just annoying and not satisfying to read.

Very exciting

Revelations was exciting and full of revelations indeed. Another interesting and successful mission completed with Trip learning interesting truths about himself while gaining a soul blade.

Almost started to enjoy this “Series”

First off, the narrator was amazing. Each character had a distinguished voice to go alongside it so it was easy to keep up. However, this “story” if that’s what you want to call it, isn’t too to bad. It is drowned out completely when you realize the book is hardcore Femdom. The MC “Trip” is “supposed” to be a demigod power wise yet, he is a glorified Maid… He’s the Only mechanic in the whole series, he’s made to “fix” everything. Even after he is severely injured. The whole time while being berated by a female sword for who knows why. Every character of value are women, but 2(The King and The Hero General) are all women. The two characters “lefty” and “duck “ are 0 value, importance, or off anything but hate. The MC’s Best Friend was the one person in the book that hated what he was. He has to keep it from him every time after everyone they come in contact with because they all literally say it in front of “Lefty” yet he never puts 1 and 1 together. All the Men are like cavemen, and the women have the brains. The MC is the smartest guy character but he’s treated like a baby butler so it never amounts to anything. Why do you have to ruin my fav genre of books? I don’t understand why or how this got 5*. The book is hard sexist against dudes. I guess that’s what the worlds come to, weak men, and weaker women. Please at least tag this correctly so I don’t have to waste my time or credits. If you like Femdom Fantasy this book is for you, specially if you don’t like the “story” part..

What a delight....

4.25 Stars

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this series. I actually did a weird thing and started with the first book in this series and then realized that a whole lot of things had occurred already sometime in the past. I then took a look and realized that there was an entire series before this. So, I stopped and went over to find the Dragon Blood series.

9 books later........I'm baaack. I took a bit of a break after being so heavily involved in the lives of Ridge and Sardelle and then the other day when I was looking to start a new book I realized that I was sufficiently caught up and it was time to dive back in. Do I think that you HAVE to read the other series for this series to make sense? No. It can definitely stand on its own, but you would seriously miss the back story of HOW these characters got to the point that they're at. And honestly, it's a great series and is so fun to deal with snarky soulbound swords and dragons who think they're gods....seriously. Okay, PSA completed.

Now in this series - well, in this book we are meeting a new male MC - Trip. Trip has always wanted to be a pilot but has always known that he is a little different. With all of the new revelations about dragons, he is sent on a mission to try to close the portal that is allowing dragons to re-enter their world. A lot of the gang is back together again with the exception of General Zirkander and Sardelle (who is about to give birth).

We also get to meet Rysha - a studious historian who also finds herself on this mission and also has one of the new swords that have been recently discovered. Unfortunately, these new swords tend to hate ALL dragons or anyone who seems to have dragon blood in them. And, wouldn't you know but apparently Trip has discovered that he definitely has dragon blood. How? He's not completely sure yet, but it seems that he has quite the ancestor in his past. How recent is this past? Well, that is the question.

There are soulbound swords arguing constantly in his head, enemy sorceresses to deal with and then there is the whole dragon problem.

I loved getting back into this world. I forgot how much I seem to chuckle while reading/listening.

Glad I'm continuing the series

I admit I haven't read the original series, with Zirkander, so perhaps that colors my views a little, but so far I'm enjoying this series with Trip and Reisha. I saw from some other reviewers that their romance would be left dangling, so I wasn't surprised (or too upset) about it. I'm glad Trip's secret is out in the open now. The combination of dragons, swords, and steampunk elements like the flyers, photographs, etc, is really interesting. The narrator sometimes puts pauses in odd places, but overall I'm enjoying her performance. On to the next one!

My favorite series!

This book, along with the entire series of the Dragon Blood story, took me by surprise in the best way possible. I honestly miss the characters and the story when I completed every book. I was hooked and I still wish there was much more to listen to because I enjoyed them so much. Do yourself a favor and listen to this series!! Caitlin Davies also does a spectacular job of separating each character in your head and is a wonderful voice actor!
