Publisher's Summary

An army of crazed, mindless Relics. An organized, power-hungry band of wandering Unders. A man, still lost in his own memories. A war is coming....

This is Relics.

Myers is starting to piece together his life as the world around him crumbles. After a technological singularity, there is an all-knowing power controlling the lives of everyone on Earth. Myers can't remember what the System is, but he does remember one thing: he played a role in why it exists.

Rand and Diane join Myers in a race to discover what the System wants, who wants to stop it, and who wants to see it succeed at all costs. However, there are new players in the game. An entire population of Relics exists, but what they want with Myers is still unclear.

What's worse, they've all lost their minds, and Myers is starting to feel his own slipping away....

A game with different players pushing ...

An A.I. that has taken control, two rival tribes about to tear each other apart in a war, a few desperate souls trying to stop the unstoppable and one man, with a plan - who has forgotten what it is.
This is a book which draws the readers into the confusion then spits them out again even more confused than before. And it is brilliant.
In this, the second volume, and don't even try to start without having read book one, we learn a little more about ex President Meyers in the years before he suddenly reappeared, without memory, hunted and the only one who might possibly save them all. It is action packed and enthralling, the tensions mounting as the pages are turned.
All very ably narrated by David Dear whose performance brings life to the numerous characters and urged the story ever onwards.
An exciting and terrifying thriller with intriguing possibilities. Prepare to be confused, engulfed, absorbed and blown away.

short but good 2nd book in series, w/sudden end

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

As with the first book, it was good, the narrator did a good job, and the story was interesting. My big beef with the first book, and now this one, is the sudden cliffhanger ending. Just like book one, it didn't feel... planned. It was like the author hit a certain length and just stopped at that chapter. At only five hours, I would recommend getting the omnibus edition if you want to use a credit.

Definite Cliff Hanger

A bit slow to start off, but that seems to be needed to lay groundwork for story progression. Multiple characters makes it not a light audiobook due to details given during groundwork. A definite, plausible description of the future America. End is a Cliff Hanger (spoiler). The narrator would sound better if they lowered the high frequency and reverb by about 10-15 %, but that is not really important, just my opinion from recording experience.
A good story.

Lots of action, better than book one!

Relics Two: Reckoning
By: Nick Thacker
Narrated by: David S. Dear
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I thought this book was much better than the first and I liked the first one too. This one was just more polished and it got more interesting. Myers is figuring out more about his past life and pieces are falling together. There is still plenty of action and mystery going on along with surprises and twists. I enjoyed this a lot more. Great job.
The narrator was spot on and kept the book alive and full blast. He really added to the book a lot!
