Publisher's Summary

Jack Walker journeyed halfway around the world and completed his daring rescue. He must now return home, traversing a world filled with endless hordes of night runners; the genetically altered, ferocious species that now inhabit the dark recesses left over from the demise of mankind and now dominate the planet. The only things more dominant are the billions of corpses left to rot where they died. It is through this world that Jack must use his special forces training to lead a small group of survivors back home to where there is the faint hope of sanctuary. His training is pushed to the limits as he is confronted with situation after situation coming face to face with the night runners. He must walk that delicate, fine edge between action and keeping his kids out of harm's way; between taking risks and turning away as he continues his quest for survival. Never having walked away from risky situations, Jack must now carefully weigh his decisions as the stakes are much higher. His kids' very safety hangs in the balance, along with the safety of the few remaining survivors. This gripping, action-packed tale tells Jack's story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world filled with peril. Safety is the dream. Nightmare is the reality. A nightmare where danger lurks around every corner.

Clear your schedule, hard to stop listening to!

Absolutely one of the best series on audible. Well narrated and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the time. You'll laugh out loud often and you feel as if you are right there with the characters. Every detail is explained and described in great detail. . you can imagine everything so clearly. Which is the mark of a good book in my eyes. Thank You John O'Brein for countless great hours of entertainment!

LOVE THE NARRATOR! HOPE THE 3RD TIMES THE CHARM!

Would you consider the audio edition of RETURN: A New World to be better than the print version?

Maybe...I only listened!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

A little less technical...and more character development...more feeling...the writing is good..but it just fell flat for me in some parts...

Which scene was your favorite?

When Jack rescues the mom and little boy!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This might be really good on film!

Any additional comments?

I WANT TO LOVE THIS SERIES! But sadly I am not...I like the narrator a whole lot, and I like Jack...and I like his night zombies...its just a bit technical in parts, and military based...and the character development for the other characters, is really slow....I found myself zoning out quite a bit...and a little bored at times...I do like the story concept...and we get more explanation of the virus and monsters in this one....and let me just say, these are scary zombies, they think...and they communicate with each other, and are super fast!!! I am moving on to book 3, the reviews say its the best story line yet...so I am willing to give it another shot...I didn't hate this story at all..its pretty good...I just don't love it...and I like to love my books..especially my zombie fiction!

The narrator does a good job

I read other reviews and almost passed on this group of books because of the reviews about the narrator. The narrator does a good job. If u like the narration of R.C Bray, Chris Rommel u will like this narrator as well. I guess people forget the main character is a ex-special forces soldier, and probably doesn't sound like a wimp.

Good book but gotta get used to narrator's style

I'm really starting to get into the story with this 2nd book but I'm still having a hard time with Mark Gagliardi's narration style. I find myself longing to hear it read by Ray Porter, Sean Runnette or Tom Stechschelte. I'm a big Mark Tufo fan and really enjoyed his collab project with John O'Brien, A Shrouded World where the main character from his Zombie Fallout series meets up with Jack from this series in an alternate reality that has both Zombies AND Nightrunners! Could you imagine?! No thanks!

Couldn't get though it

I had read the first book in the series. It was decent but not spectacular. Unfortunately the second book in the series was even less spectacular. Got halfway through and just couldn't bear the slow pace anymore.

New narrator... not much better but new

Great story but if you are going to go to the trouble of re-recording a whole series you think you would get a good narrator like Chritian Rummel , Sean Runnette or Oliver Wyman. This guy Mark Gagliardi does a slightly better job but he occasionally slips into this bad batman voice when doing the main character. once you get over that its a good book .

Book 2 of a great story

The story is excellent and well written. But as with the first book the narrator isn’t very good and he seems to be trying to hard like he’s narrating a 80 cheesy action movie. But the story and characters really good so as much as the narration lets this book down the story keeps you interested so I will stick with I might get used to the narrator. They should have used somebody like RC Bray he would brought this book to life so much more
