Publisher's Summary

The Drenai fortress of Dros Delnoch has fallen, and blood-hungry Nadir hordes sweep across the land, bringing desolation and despair. But with the Nadir triumphant, slavers seize a young girl in the tiny realm of Gothir, and a peasant boy steps off on a quest that will shake the world.

To rescue her, Kiall must cross the savage steppes and journey through the Halls of Hell, facing ferocious beasts, deadly warriors and demons of the dark.

But the boy is not alone. With him are the legendary heroes of Bel-Azar: Chareos the Blademaster, Beltzer the Axeman and the bowmen Finn and Maggrig.

And one among them hides a secret that could free the world of Nadir domination. For he is the Nadir Bane, the hope of the Drennai.

He is the Earl of Bronze.

The Ghosts-yet-to-be ride again

Classic , Gemmell. The highest praise you can give in this genre. Performance is good and allows the story to unfold in centre stage right to the end .... some author's write well but struggle to give a satisfying ending; David Gemmell always delivers at the denouement and this is another example. A great joy to finally have these magical books available on Audible.

I love this book and is in my top 5.

I can't get enough of his work. I have read this and all of his books over and over again, and getting to listen to them at work or when doing diy or just when chilling is such a pleasure.
it is well read and I feel a little sad that I finished it in less than a day but I just couldn't turn it off.
Well I'm off to start another of his book now.
I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did.

A great story, wonderfully delivered

I love Gemmell's work and always have. Sean Barrett's gritty voice is the perfect medium for his epic and often grimly realistic tales.

It's an unusual story in that it focuses on washed up heroes and cowardly unwilling participants (a Gemmell trope), and this adds to its appeal immensely.

While lacking the individual star characters that Gemmell wrote so well, the overall group of often unlikeable questers remains fabulous entertainment.

Get this, get all the Drenai books; they're all brilliant.

Entertaining

I am admittedly biased, I love the works of David Gemmell and this is no exception. Not his finest work it is engadging and the main players are all well rounded. I am unsure whether he would have written the sequel if he had lived longer but it a sequel I am many fans yearned for.

First rate listen

Great addition to this storyline. I listen to all of the books one after another and was very impressed with the storyline. One complaint was the story insist you assume some of the storyline acting to clear some confusion but well worth listening too

Fantastic

I've read and reread this book. When I saw it had been released on audible I had to get it. Sean Barrett is excellent narrating this and has the characters down perfectly.

Quest is brilliant and funny and touching.

Such a great story, with characters I fell in love with - again. David Gemmel is one of my all time favorite authors. His characters always become like long lost friends that you want to hang out with and hear all about their adventures while sitting in a tavern with a tankard or two or three of ale.
