Sadly disappointing

What disappointed you about Prepper's Crucible Omnibus, Volumes 4-6?

As with Andrews' other books I found myself needing more content. So many complex things were simply stated in few sentences. Dialog was not at all believable or realistic. There were a number of editing mistakes, seemed to be more than the first Omnibus. It was just a disappointing listen overall unfortunately.

Would you be willing to try another book from Bobby Andrews? Why or why not?

Maybe, as long as the narration was done by someone else. I'm still a fan of the genre and Bobby Andrews has some decent ideas, even if presentation can be lacking.

Would you be willing to try another one of Mark Shumka’s performances?

I'm sorry but no, definitely not. Narration does not seem to be Shumka's forte. I'm not even sure I could advise on what to do better; some people have it and some people...well...don't. If there were a book I really wanted to digest but Mark Shumka was narrating it I would either avoid it altogether or pick up the Kindle version.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It really didn't elicit any emotion whatsoever, this was part of what was missing in this book - spark.

Any additional comments?

I really wanted to like this book. Although the writing was a little less enjoyable than the first Omnibus, the narration made it almost unbearable. Several times I wanted to quit the book but I committed to it so that I could give a complete review. I found that the further the book went the worse it seemed to get, almost like Andrews was getting tired of writing. Major events were never addressed or were quickly glossed over such that they should have been irrelevant. Also the style of the story presentation in the last part of the book, changing to a historical angle, just about caused me to throw in the towel as it simply wrapped things up WAY to conveniently with no meat.

Good book, horrible Narration!

Would you consider the audio edition of Prepper's Crucible Omnibus, Volumes 4-6 to be better than the print version?

Loved the first book in volumes 1-3. This was well written again; however, the narrators were terrible. I really tried, but could not listen to them.
It should be a warning of what not to do with a good book when it comes to narration. It is as if the publishers went to a local small town theatre group and asked the to literally READ the book. Very bland narration; very poor performance.

Would you be willing to try another one of Mark Shumka’s performances?

No. Again, the book was good, the narrator was absolutely horrible. A glee club could have done better. So bland. He just read it as if nobody was in the room. A robot reading it would have faired the same.

Any additional comments?

Bobby Andrews...its not too late. Try again with the same book but with a better narrator, others have done it, plz redo with a better narrator!

Good story, uninspiring narration

Pros: Very good story, good character development

Cons:Poor Narration

Details: As usual Bobby Andrews writes a very good story that leaves off where volumes 1-3 left off and leaves you wanting more. We learn more about the characters of the story and the hero's aren't always what or who you expect them to me.

While the story is four stars, the narration is the opposite of that. There is a difference between reading a book aloud and narrating a book; the narrator does the first. There is so little emotion in the reading of this book, the narrator seems bored.

Great Story Losey Reader

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the reader, he was so bad I almost returned it but wanted to now the end of the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Prepper's Crucible Omnibus, Volumes 4-6?

How horrible the reader was.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Shumka?

Kevin Pierce was really good in the first book and would have enjoyed this book more if he had read this book. I can actually say that I will never listen to another book with this Shumka again. I had a hard time listening to him and his performance.

Do you think Prepper's Crucible Omnibus, Volumes 4-6 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

NO because they might hire Mark Shumka again.

Any additional comments?

Redo the book with Kevin Pierce and I would relisten to this book with more emjoyment.
