Publisher's summary

In a future that feels suspiciously like the past, death is in the air.

Collin War wakes up in a bed that is not his own, in a body that feels changed. He is the first of his kind, the first to recover from a mysterious fever that has ravaged the world. Collin awakens in the small town of Goshen, Montana, a community struggling to survive while maintaining a faithful existence. He yearns for his lost family but finds himself drawn to the people of Goshen.

Stepping into the leadership role he was destined for, Collin helps his new friends cope with loss, defend against the fever, and battle outsiders seeking to destroy the town and all it stands for. But from the ashes of death comes the realization that not all savages live in the wild.

Great twist and turns!

This book starts off strong and ends the same well too! I love the character of Collin War and his past he can’t truly remember. The characters throughout this book have good depth and you truly can feel for them or despise them for you they are. I definitely think this book is worth picking up and reading.

Great Book

Great listen with plenty of twists and catches. Was a quick listen that did not draw the plot out. Interesting group of characters that the author creates a relationship with from the beginning. Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Stunning End of the World Story with a Twist!

This is one of the best End of the World Books I have heard in a long Time. It is so well written. First there is the main character Collin War he is the only person to wake up from a 16 year long coma caused by the Fever that brought about the end of the world. He wakes up in a hospital and does not have his memory. Colin is in a small town led by a Creepy Preacher and a former Major in the Army and his militia force called the Eagles. The town is besieged or so it appears by a group called the Vipers. The story is deep and engaging with layers upon layers. The characters are well written. It is a perfect blend of Post Apocalypse/Mystery/Thriller. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!!!

The narrator does a excellent job with this story. This is the first time I have heard Mr Richards vocal performance but based on this work I will definitely choose more of his narration to listen to in the future.
