Publisher's summary

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake.

So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave?

Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

The one who's being pursued by...something.

So when the mysterious traveler finally reappears, Eli's determined that this time, he's going to get some answers. But his hunt soon yields far more than he bargained for, plunging him headlong into a dizzying world full of competing factions and figures straight out of legend.

To make sense of the mystery at its heart, he must embark on a breakneck chase across the country and through two centuries of history - with nothing less than America's past, present, and future at stake.

Another great book from Peter Clines.

I would probably listen to Ray Porter read the phone book, and would somehow find it entertaining.

A Great Listen!

I've read all of Peter Clines' Ex Heroes books.... all great by the way.... and listened to 14 and The Fold. He has become my new favorite author. I really loved Paradox Bound as well and the Ray Porter / Peter Clines combo is simply wonderful. Can't recommend this book highly enough. It's a blast!

Five Stars is not adequate! Awesome!!

Oh my goodness! The storyline, the character building, twists, turns, the clarity of thought... Peter Clines gets a standing ovation for every aspect of this story!!! And Ray Porter and his special way of voicing the story is just amazing. Ray brings it alive! I simply could not put it down. Around every corner was unexpected and exciting reading/listening, all the way to the end. Well done!

Ray Porter is amazing.

Neat little story about the American Dream. Ray Porter’s narration is spot on as usual. Fun listen, nothing life changing. Worth a credit.

Another Peter Clines Winner!

I have listened to several of Peter Clines books thru audible. His books seem at first like they are just a good story. But then you realize there is something there that requires a lot more thought.
This book makes you think a lot about the age old question "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Ray Porter is an excellent narrator. He reads the books as if he is more of a story teller instead of a narrator.

Ray Porter!

Fun and great story. Ray Porter is an awesome narrator and could make the bible sound interesting.

Dr Who in America

Brilliant, like a season of Dr Who with gender role reversal of the main characters pitted against Cyber Men style "faceless men" bad guys. Plot twist and turns I did not see coming but made perfect sense in a travel through American history story. If you like Time Travel try the Chronicles of St Mary's by Jodi Taylor.

I'm sad it ended.

I've been a fan of Mr. Clines for some time and this book just proves that he's getting better with age. His stories are absolutely original and in today's day and age that's increasingly more difficult. But what helps him stand out goes beyond his originality: it's his prose. Mr. Clines is a great writer! Well paced, energetic and exciting it's a great audio book. The only thing I wish he would do is go even deeper than he does. There are rabbit holes unexplored and subplots that are given too short shrift and as he matures, I hope his efforts expand even more. Great book!
