Publisher's summary

Nemesis: Inception is the first book in the Nemesis trilogy.

"The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." -Mark Twain

Lexi was an exceptional woman living an average life. Marred by the pain of a neglectful mother and the early death of her father, she could only find solace in shallow friendships and arm's length relationships. The one person she loved and trusted was her younger sister, Carey, but even their relationship was strained.

With no purpose and aimlessly wandering from job to job, she was on a path that would lead nowhere.

Then the lights went out and life changed - for everyone.

In the early morning, a spectacular attack against the United States was carried out. It was the fulfillment of a grand conspiracy that would leave millions dead and many more millions on a trajectory toward a fate worse than death. The super-EMP would destroy the power grid and leave most electrical devices useless.

With the infrastructure devastated and the government incapacitated, Lexi would find her purpose, but the cost would be greater than she could have ever imagined.

This is a continuation of Hopf early work

I have listened to most of G. Michael Hopf novels with Audible.com. This is sort of a side shoot of events from the earlier books. It takes place at same time and mentions earlier characters. I do NOT like the narration on this one. (I loved the ones Kevin Pierce did). The story is short and less interesting compared to earlier novels by Mr. Hopf. I am in the second Nemesis book now and it is much more interesting. I try to listen to all J Michael Hopf novels. Because of that I got this one. It is a short less interesting novel. I don't like the girls making so many dumb mistakes and the audible narration is grating on this one. As a stand-alone novel I would not recommend it. But if you want to have gone through all G. Michael Hopf novels like I have, it is one more to complete.

Whiny Sing-Song Voice of Narrator Drove Me Mad!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not unless they are a fan of Hopf's.

Would you be willing to try another book from G. Michael Hopf? Why or why not?

Yes, I loved the New World Series. I bought this one to hear more about Lexi's story.

What didn’t you like about Mare Trevathan’s performance?

Her voice was whiny. Her inflection was sing-song and irritating.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably.

great story.

As dark and disturbing as this one was at times (mostly because the author painted such a vivid picture) the story is still fantastic.

Not what I was expecting.

So this book wasnt what I was expecting. For some reason I missed that this book is a side story on a female character from this Author's main book series (The Long Road: A Post Apocalyptic Novel). I thought it was a totally different novel based on an EMP stike. But the female narrator is a good choice for this particular book, refreshing to listen to.

Again - Do not buy this book either if you have read the series!

Ok I love the series but this is ridiculous. This is the second "book" I have purchased that is nothing other than a repeat of what is in the series. The only way this one differs is that it tells of the EXACT same story but from a different characters point of view. Why would I spend a credit on this?
