Publisher's summary
Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.
Sworn to serve and protect the United States of America from all monsters by one of the country’s founding fathers, Franks has only one condition to the agreement: No matter what the government learns of him, no matter what is discovered concerning his odd physiology or the alchemy behind the elixir that made him, the government is never, ever allowed to try and make more like him. Such is absolutely forbidden and should the powers-that-be do so, then the agreement is null and void.
Project Nemesis: in a secret location, using sophisticated technology and advanced genetic engineering, the director of the very agency Franks works for is making more like him. And the director is not content with making one. Nope, he’s making 13. Now all bets are off, and Hell hath no fury like a monster betrayed. Particularly if that monster happens to be an undying killing machine capable of taking out vampires and werewolves with one hand tied behind his back.

A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Another Winner
If you've been following the MHI story since book 1 you either already have this or are considering getting it. In a nutshell: You want this.
This story, as mentioned in other reviews, is told from the perspective of Agent Franks. Who has been a huge (no pun intended) enigma since the beginning. But here, you find out what he is, why he is, and ultimately who he is.
Its logical to make a comparison to Monster Hunter Alpha as it is focused on an individual perspective other than Owen Pitt. However it is also a very different type of story because of the nature of the "beast". And you get the usual gun/weapons "porn" that Correia does so well, and weaves into his worlds.
I won't give away the plot, but you will be re acquainted with familiar faces, and there are some welcome cameo's from MHI personnel. Be prepared for some very shocking twists that clearly set up future volumes.
I really enjoy this series. I highly recommend it. And I can't imagine why this isn't a series on HBO or a series of movies.

AGENT FRANKS!!!!!!
Originally posted at Fantasy Literature. We review SFF, horror, and comics for adults and kids, in print and audio daily.
There is no way that any review I write about Monster Hunter Nemesis is going to have any sort of effect on anybody’s decision to read it. If you’re a fan of the extremely popular MONSTER HUNTER series, then you’re going to read Monster Hunter Nemesis, the fifth book. If you’re not, you won’t. And if you’re not in one of those two camps, you have no reason to be reading this review. But still I have to write it, because that’s my job.
So, for those of you who ARE fans, what you can expect here is exactly what Correia has given us so far: great characters, a fascinating story, witty dialogue, and brutal violence. This particular installment features my favorite character: AGENT FRANKS! He’s a huge indestructible man(?) who works for the U.S. Monster Control Bureau, a government agency that fights monsters and sometimes works with or against Monster Hunter International. In Monster Hunter Nemesis we get his backstory. How old is he? Where did he come from? Why does he work for MCB? Why is he so loyal to the United States? How is he indestructible? You’ll find out in Monster Hunter Nemesis as Agent Franks takes on a bureaucrat who’s also a mad scientist. I have to say that I was completely surprised by the revelations and what they may mean for the ongoing MONSTER HUNTER story.
Fans will be happy to see a little bit of our old friends at MHI, the gangsta gnomes, and Heather the werewolf. Several new intriguing characters are introduced, too, and I look forward to seeing them in future installments. One main character is tragically killed and there is a delightfully promising plot twist at the end.
For those of you who haven’t yet started the MONSTER HUNTER series, I can highly recommend it if you love monsters, guns, engaging heroes, tons of action, clever plotting, and just the right amount of humor. I must warn you that it’s gory and violent (a little too much for me, honestly) and that Larry Correia’s libertarian views are occasionally on display, especially when he disrespects the government and the president of the United States (who is obviously President Obama).
If you’re going to try MONSTER HUNTER, start with the first book (Monster Hunter International) and continue in publication order. I also highly recommend Audible Studios’ versions which are brilliantly narrated by Oliver Wyman who totally “gets” this series and gives us a perfect performance for each character, and especially for Agent Franks. If you’re not an audio reader, this one could definitely change your mind.

WWAFD? (What would Agent Franks do)
This is the next installment in the MHI series. In this novel you get to hear the story from the view of Agent Franks. He has a great backstory which has been hinted at in previous books but now gets explored in much greater detail. This is the typical MHI novel with lots of action, humor and a great story to boot. The narrarator is excellent and I feel that the authors works are actually better in audible format than reading them .
That being said there are a few minor negatives. First, we get that Franks is awesome. The author keeps the constant reminders up and it gets sort of repetative after a while. Second, the author does perhaps too good a job with the character. Franks isn't loveable, heck he isn't particularly likeable. He does a good job of getting this point across and that is the problem. While a good book, it is a bit harder to enjoy this one in that while Franks is cool, he isn't likeable and that makes it harder to root for him. This improves as the book goes on but it still takes a way from the story just a bit.
Still overall this is a great book and well worth a credit.

Would you listen to Monster Hunter Nemesis again? Why?
Yes, in time and I enjoyed it to the point I burned thru it too fast.
Great series with alot of twist
Who was your favorite character and why?
Franks without a doubt, along with most of the rest of his gang
What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?
This guy does a great job of finding each characters part and I do enjoy his works
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Same as the book title
Any additional comments?

Completely, absolutely fantastic!
Where does Monster Hunter Nemesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Up near the top.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Nemesis?
The fight between Franks and Earl was EXCELLENT! Plus, I was cringing because they were totally wrecking Julie's house.
Which scene was your favorite?
Lord... tough call. I loved it when Franks saw the MHI tattoo on his replacement arm - that was really funny. Also, when Franks was thinking that they would have charged him with child abuse.... that was shout-out-loud funny. The fight with Heather on the train was really good too. Werewolves rule!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely.
Any additional comments?
This book was perfect - action-filled, fast paced and really really funny. But waaay too short. I wanted more. I liked that Franks got his butt kicked. It made him even more the hero that he could suck it up and still win the fight. And boy, does he love a fight.

action, banter, and even a really cool fight scene
The Monster Hunter series is a guilty pleasure of mine. I like fast paced, action packed adventures. I also have a particular taste for fantastic creatures; mythical deities, medical monstrosities, or mystical conjurations, they all pull me in. Mix those aspects together, blend in good writing and creative world-building; you get Monster Hunter International (MHI). Larry Correia takes all your favorite monsters from history, folk lore, and mythology and puts his own spin on them, inserts them into our world pits them against everyday people. Well, seemingly everyday people.
I was really looking forward to Nemesis as it focuses on Agent Franks of the Monster Control Bureau (MCB), and I was very excited to learn more about the mysterious and imposing character. This is exactly what I was hoping it would be. You learn more about Franks' origins; how he lived deemed a "monster", how his contract with the United States government came to exist, even some of his past he didn't know about. Most importantly, however, we find out exactly why he is so adamant about stopping Project Nemesis.
Stricken, the sadistic leader of Special Task Force Unicorn - a team of monsters working for the government in exchange for a PUFF exemption - is planning a coup and Agent Franks is his only obstacle. With few allies, and the majority of the MCB working to quell the events in Las Vegas, Franks goes after Stricken only to find he's not the biggest threat. He must find a way to stop something that should never have existed in the first place, but he's going to need some help from Monster Hunter International.
Oliver Wyman took on narration duties yet again for this series; as usual, he did a great job. I have listened to a lot of books narrated by Wyman and he gets better with every single one. Every book he seems to get a little crisper, his range a little wider, and there's never any background noise. He's a talented voice actor whom I will continue to follow.
If you read this review, there is a good chance you have listened to or read most of the previous installments and you're on the fence with this purchase, don’t be. It is what you expect and presumably enjoy about the series; action, banter, and even a really cool fight scene that you have probably been hoping for.

Masterfully written; masterfully told.
Any additional comments?
Another fantastic story of the fantastic by one of the best 21st century writers. The story is great and only made greater by the again perfect narration of Oliver Wyman. Even though I buy the print copies, I have to listen to Oliver's rendition of the voices that I've come to know and love. This novel, like "Alpha" does not follow Pitt and instead follows the exploits of the undefeatable Agent Franks. This is a must have novel for fans of the series and if you haven't listened to any of them yet, start with the first one and listen to all of them. You will not be disappointed; I guarantee you.

Franks Revealed!
Oh My GODS that was amazing. Remember how Earl had his own book adventure? Well this time it's all about FRANKS, that likeable unstoppable government psycho. What IS he?! Well we find out EVERYTHING as Frank fights to save humanity from monsters whilst being framed and hunted himself. I won't say anymore. Fans of this series, rejoice if you love Franks. I have LOVED everything Correia has written! I'll definitely listen to this again! I already can't wait for the next one!
You might like this if you like Harry Dresden, Iron Druid, or Nathaniel Cade.

I do LOVE Franks!!!!!!
I've been enjoying this series since book one. It combines all my favorites. There are monsters, epic battles, explosions, humor, lovable characters and great adventures. It's well worth the credit and or the price anytime! I do suggest that you start with book one in this series because I wouldn't want anyone to be denied the total MHI experience. It's a fun ride :)

Its All About Franks !!
I loved this addition to the series!! I expected it will all be about MHI, but no, it was all about our lovely and "Classified" agent Franks. In the previous book we heard few times the word "Nemesis" and wondered what it was all about, and here we finally know what is Nemesis and how dangerous it is.
When I say too many things happened in this book, believe me, it was way toooo many things.. from new characters to new events, to deaths and to new lives and so on. This book was packed with everything you can think of.
What I loved about Nemesis is you get to know who is Franks and how he became agent Franks. I can't wait to get the next book and know what will happen next, specially with MHI!!!.
