Publisher's summary

"I am Princess Meredith, heir to a throne of fairie. My day job, once upon a time, was as a private detective in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, princess has now become a full-time occupation.

"My aunt, Queen Andais, will have it no other way. And so I am virtually a prisoner in fairie - trapped here with some of the realm's most beautiful men to serve as my bodyguards...and my lovers. For I am compelled to conceive a child: an heir to succeed me on the throne.

"Yet after months of amazing sex with my consorts, there is still no baby. And no baby means no throne. The only certainty is death at the hands of my cousin Cel, or his followers, if I fail to conceive.

"Now Mistral, Queen Andais' new captain of the guard, has come to my bed - defying her and risking her terrible wrath in doing so. But even she will hesitate to punish him in jealous rage, because our joining has reawakened old magic - mystical power so ancient that no one stands against it and survives, not even my strongest and most favored: my Darkness and my Killing Frost. Not even Mistral himself, my Storm Lord. But because Mistral has helped to bring this magic forth, he may live another day.

"If I can reclaim control of the fey power that once was, there may be hope for me and my reign in fairie. I might yet quell the dark schemes and subterfuges surrounding me. Though shadows of obsession and conspiracy gather, I may survive."

Shorter then the rest but just as sweet!

The only complaint I have about this book is how fast the ride seemed to end! Once again the narrator brings to life an amazing book in such a way to surpass and enhance the original medium.

Voices are Horrible

I love Merry Gentry Series. I will listen over and over and over but I hate the voices of the men in the stories

Poor Doyle!

Another great story. I really love the way these characters are developing slowly as the series progresses. Everyone, especially Frost and Gaylan are getting much better at their initial weaknesses. The sex is much too drawn out and tends to stall the story from moving forward. That's ok though. I can get past the disk-long orgies because the story line is otherwise great. The characters are really good too. I would love it if the narrator would stick with pronouncing the characters names in a consistent way. Doyle was "Doyle" in books one and two, "Dole" in books three, back to "Doyle" in book four, and now back to Dole. I realize the pronunciation guide says that his name is pronounced "Dole", but stick with the same darned name! It's distracting, and quite frankly disrespectful to the author. Not to mention poor Darkness! I wish he'd pop out of the story with Mortal Dread and give the narrator a little slice... :)

Keeps changing the way she says names

This narrator keeps changing the way she says some names from book to book and it drives me insane. Doyle is the most common change. It goes from Doyle to Dole back to Doyle then back to Dole. can we have some consistency please?

Wondrous events galore

The wild magic returns and Merry shares it among new allies and old friends. Steamy and sexy for sure since she is descended from five fertility goddesses. Many plot twists and turns to keep it interesting. Loving this reread with the narration. It gives new life to the stories I've read so many times before. Highly recommend.

Power within the Sithen

Merry is definitely coming into her own. However, on the way, she is bringing her men along for the ride. There are major changes happening within the Unseelie city and the Sluagh. Merry is touched by the Goddess and her men are being touched by the consort. Faery is changing and she is leaving again for sanctuary. Cael is loose and free and he's more insane than he was.

Wow, another incredible installment!

Love this storyline & can't wait for the next book.

Still having trouble with the narrator's pronunciation of character names and for some reason, the narration sounded like it was being played on a slight fast-forward. Just enough to make it feel annoyingly rushed.

Good

So this book had me in and out I would pay attention but get lost lol I mean I'm all for sex but wow everything she touches lol I thought she was a detective!? I do enjoy it love the characters love how she describes her love or how she just cares so deeply for each in their own ways good but like the narrator needs to get the guys better than robot or sick voices
