Publisher's summary

Four years after the destruction of the planeport, Earth remains cut off from Heaven. The angels and demons are in disarray, lacking direction and leadership. Someone has to step up and take control, and that person is...Mercury?

But when the demoness Tiamat finds out about Mercury's plan to reestablish contact with heaven, all hell breaks loose. Mercury finds himself at the center of a plot to rewrite Earth's history, and the only way to stop it is to travel back in time to prevent the plot from coming to fruition. Along the way, he accidentally travels to multiple parallel universes, meeting several alternate versions of himself and tearing a gaping hole in the fabric of reality.

Will the universe survive? Will Mercury be trapped in prehistoric Africa? Will we ever find out who Mercury's favorite Gilmore Girls character is? Listen to Mercury Shrugs to find out!

Don't let the other reviews scare you away

Don't let the other reviews scare you away. I almost let them. The other reviews mentions the change of narrator in such negative way that I worried it would ruin my enjoyment of the story. I am glad I bought the book in spite of this. The narration is perfectly fine and they even added some light audio drama on top. Which I felt worked well.

The story itself is even greater and manages to wrap this rollercoaster of a book series up in a way that unexpectedly explains everything in a way I didn't know I needed.

Worst narration in my 500+ library

I really liked this series. I was disappointed on book 3 when we got a new narrator, but I got used to him and enjoyed books 3 & 4. I have to go back and read book 5, Mercury shrugs. Rob murdered this story with whiney terrible voices. I don't think he bothered to listen to any of the other books to even get a feel for the characters. I own over 500 audio books, and have listened to 100's more with KU, and this was by far the WORST.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Just started it and very disappointed in the new narrator!! Not sure if I will finish it.

Love the Story. Bad narrator

I like the first stories so much that I continued only to find that they switched narrators and the two that have read since then have SUCKED! At least the production was better on this one than the last.

Character voices absolutely horrendous

The story was acceptable, not the best one in the series. However by far the worst part of this book was the narrator. I would rather listen to the narrator just dead pan the voices than the than have to sit through that again. Definitely recommend the series, however pick up the hard copies after the third book when Kevin Stillwell stops narrating.

Enjoyed the series until now. Bad new narrator.

Every character either sounds like an aging queen or is ridiculously annoying. Couldn't finish book due to irritation level induced by narrator.

Worst narration ever since that person who did book 4

Worst narration ever, since that person who did book 4. I had to skip to the end of that one. I really liked the story, I’ve listen to almost all Kroese’s books, I wish they could have stayed with the narrator from the first three books. I’m not sure thus guy even pronounced the author’s name correct.

Narration Quality Level: Dumpster Fire

Jarring. Insipid. Grotesque. Weedling. Excessive. Grating. Noxious. Offensive. Ruinous.
Let’s say you have a decent sharp cheddar cheese, that has the potential to be something delicious.
Let’s say you give this cheese to a professional cook, expecting them to do something beyond your own ability, which may even create the sort of memory you share with your grandchildren.
Now, when your chef returns your cheddar to you, transformed into a quivering radioactive gobbit of hellish goop, I personally believe curling into a ball and whimpering “make it stop oh god make it stop” is not an overreaction.
Book: cheddar
Narrator: chef
Me: crying lump of human on the floor
I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but maybe we can work together to find him a new career.

How completely confusing and childish it was

Hated the entire book. The read was bad and the narration just made it that much worse. I had to FORCE myself to complete it.
