It is Acceptable Pulp

Where does Marked for Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This finished in the middle of all the audiobooks I have listened to so far.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending is a good cliff hanger.

What does Claire Christie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Clair Christie is a great voice for this. Her voices for all the characters are significantly different and appropriate in the audio description of the character. In addition her voice has great emotion in it..

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A murder mystery turns into a chase through the Mournland.

Any additional comments?

There are a few things I can say about this. First, it is a good pulp novel. Mark of Death has quite a few interesting twists and surprises that keep it interesting. Second, it introduces you some of the religions, races, nationalities and geography I have not read about in other Eberron books. Its explanation and presentation of them is excellent. Third the pace starts out well but drags out the final scene too long. Finally, it ends quietly and not in a big climax. This leaves you satisfied but not thrilled. Also, you are anticipating, but not excited to read the next book.

It's about the journey not the destination

I loved it. A great cat and mouse chase of a story with flavorful characters. Plenty of history and knowledge of the world without feeling like an encyclopedia. Blurs the line of good and evil, right and wrong.

the story was OK but after the first act just continued to recycle over and over. How many times can you say '.... oh no she's gone..... again'
