Audie Award Nominee, Best Teens Category, 2013

Not so very long ago, Eragon - Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider - was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.

Good book but did not deliver everything

It was a good book and enjoyable to listen to. Gerard Doyle gave his usual good performance though the book failed to tie up all of the loop holes and promises that had been set out in previous books. Overall a fair job at tying up the series.

Love the Inheritance Cycle!

This is such a great series, from start to finish. I read the books originally, but years later I have thoroughly enjoyed the audio performance! This recording was so well done!

A great ending to a fabulous series

Since reading the first of this series, Eragon, I found myself checking often to see when the next book was due out and then marking the date of its release so I can be one of the first to read/listen. This last book was the hardest to wait for, but so very worth it. I recommend readers have a box of tissue handy for the last few chapters.

Christopher Paolini is amazing in the way he wove the story throughout the series, leaving clues that cumulate in this final novel.

Gerald Doyle is a master narrator. I keep forgetting that he is one person as he brings each character to life giving them their own voice, tone, and attitude.

great book. horrible ending choices.

the last few chapters were just completly random. I don't know why it ended the way it did. it was going so well and then just decided to make eragon make a rash choice for apparently no reason. I get wanting to leave elsewhere to train the dragons but to just decide that he will never come back ever again, like what? there's no reason for that part, like nobody can take a vacation or travel and visit family or friends? just deciding the rest of his life at the age of like 18? irrational....

very disappointed!

What about Gerard Doyle’s performance did you like?

Doyle is one of my favorite's. He does a great job and I instantly connected with him in the first book.

Any additional comments?

ugh, never been so disappointed in an ending! Very long and drawn out book and I couldn't believe that it needed 3 hours to wrap everything up and then it was done horrible wrong in my opinion. I really don't know how you could spend a decade writing a series and then end it like that and be happy with yourself. Anyway, I actually liked the way Eragon won the climatic battle, I literally laughed out loud because I thought it was brilliant.

Long awaited and worth it.

A fitting conclusion to the series. Also, I enjoyed the interview with the author at the end. A definite plus. The story was as good as I hoped it would be, and the performance was enjoyable. The various voices are nicely distinguished. Well worth reading or listening.

What do you want?

Any additional comments?

What it is it with the people of this country and their need to have a happy ending to every story. The only time that a happy ending is a must is in the massage parlor. I'm just not sure what people expected from this FINAL book. None of these books were the work of a great fantasy novelist but they were interesting and fun. I thought part of the allure of this series was that it would be completed in four books. Which is nice because you don't have to buy 14 books just to hear an end you wont be happy with anyway. This book was wrapped up nicely. To get the answers to everything that happened from the beginning of this story would take the 14 books this author could never have written. He is young and will get better. For a first shot at a fantasy epic it was pretty good. In the interview at the end he tells us how hard this last book was for him. I mean this was the authors first real battle with writers block. You animals have to remember this is the work of a hatchling. So try to remember what you are listening to, Eragon, not Ender or the Dragon Reborn. It was a nice conclusion to a nice story.

Good Storyline

The story flowed and I didn't want it to end. The characters came to life and had great depth. It kept me entertained and drawn to the story.
