Publisher's summary

Military might and arcane powers clash in Wexler's fifth action-packed Shadow Campaigns novel.

The Beast, the ancient demon imprisoned beneath Elysium for a thousand years, has been loosed on the world. It absorbs mind after mind, spreading like a plague through the north. And it threatens the heart of Vordan.

As Queen Raesinia Orboan and soldiers Marcus D'Ivoire and Winter Ihernglass grapple with the aftermath of a hard-fought military campaign, they soon discover they have more than arcane powers to fear - it seems they cannot trust one of their own.

Excellent!

I've read and listened to quite a bit of fantasy and rarely do I write reviews, but I have to say that this series is exceptional. The world building, the nuanced characters, the plotting and pacing, and of course, a very interesting magic system. Django Wexler nailed it!

A great ending to a good series

This instalment is engaging and compelling throughout. Moat notably, it actually ends and ends well. my only quibble is that I would have appreciated another chapter or two of denouement.

A great final installment by Django Wexler. He does a nice job of wrapping everything up.

The end of an endless adventure

This epic story feels like it can go on forever. Reading the previous books in this series is not strictly required but greatly encouraged.

Simply amazing

Hardly any serial author knows how to finish out a story. Django Wrexler’s writing is a rare example of the elegance and care it takes to bring a close to such a long and wonderful story.

Fantastic ending to a grand series with razor sharp narration

I dislike writing reviews, but have to give Django Wexler top marks for this series. His writing was new to me, but I’ve become a big fan. Excellent characters, world building and story arc(s).

And Richard Poe is almost mesmeric in his narration capabilities, especially considering the fact that many of the most important characters are female. He never once, in dozens of hours of narration work, mixed up vocal characteristics- there were no flaws...perfection. I always feel like great narrators should continue with great series, and hate it when studios change up...so glad they stuck with Mr Poe.

Mr Wexler, Mr Poe- thank you for the hours of entertainment!

A fine end to a riveting tale

WIsh I'd experienced this series through audio sooner. Would've been a much more riveting experience. And I'd actually know how to pronounce the character's names. Anyways, I'm sad to leave these characters. Thrilling from beginning to end.

Can't Go Wrong with this Series!

If one is a fan of Brian McClellan's "Powder Mage" books, and one should be, then one cannot go wrong by picking up "The Thousand Names" series by Django Wexler. In my opinion the best Clinton fantasy series on the market of the ones I have read.
