Publisher's summary

Honor Harrington has survived ship-to-ship combat, assassins, political vendettas, and duels. But this time, Honor and her crew, ambushed and captured, are aboard an enemy ship, bound for a prison planet aptly named "Hell" - and her scheduled execution.

Yet the one lesson Honor has never learned is how to give up. She and her people are going home - even if it means conquering hell to get there!

A Note from Author David Weber
There's been some confusion—not to say, um, energetic debate, readers and fans being readers and fans—about the correct pronunciation of "Manticoran." The truth, alas, is that a stitch was dropped. An error occurred. A mistake was made… and it wasn't Audible's fault. It was mine. Before Audible recorded the very first Honor Harrington book, narrator Allyson Johnson and I not only corresponded by e-mail but actually spoke to one another by phone. She wanted to make absolutely certain she had the correct pronunciations for names, places, star nations, etc., and I tried to make certain all of her questions were answered. And so they were. Unfortunately, at some point in the process, I replied to one of her e-mails by telling her that "Man-ti-core-ahn" was pronounced "Man-tik-er-ahn." Exactly how this happened is more than I can say at this point, except to blushingly disclose that the original e-mail remains intact, confirming to all the world that it was, indeed, my fault. I can ascribe it only to a temporary mental hiccup on my part and crave your forgiveness. If, however, you must blame someone for the mix-up, that someone should be me and not Audible, who have done everything they could to get it right.

Listen to another Honor Harrington adventure.

Excelent, audible should finish the series

I am now completely satisfied with Allison Johnson's reading of this series and have been for several books. The story is classic Weber and a wonderful story.

the downside: AUDIBLE decided to pause production of the Honor Harrington series with this book, my problem with this is this book is a cliff hanger, if audible wanted to pause the series they should have done so with the previous book as from this book on you could reasonably argue that the remaining books are really one very long book, at the very least Echoes of Honor should be done so as not to leave people hanging on a MAJOR cliff hanger

Excellent series, wish audible would finish it

This book is excellent but start from the beginning and read/listen to the full series, it is excellent.

Having listened to all the books in Honor Harrington series up until this one and then discovering Audible haven't produced any more in the series is very disappointing. Hope you'll consider producing the last books. I think I have to buy the paper copies. I can't not read the last books in the series.

Honor Harrington Universe Book 7

"Year 7 of the War"

In enemy hands, at some point it must happen.
There is always a moment when your luck runs out, and you have to survive on your own, but sometimes you know that you have no chance and the best you can hope for is to take as many of them with you as you can.

Fortuna shifted her attention and now PRH has her support. :(
The center of gravity and technological superiority changed.

I never expected such actions from
Senior Master Chief Petty Officer Horace Harkness

In Enemy Hands

I just love this series. I feel like they are all old friends. The last section of the book I could not stop listening. Everything had to stop while I finished the book. Can hardly wait to start the next book in the series. Johnson did a great job narrating the story. Was interesting about the group of cats on Grayson and how they seem to know when something happens. Honor's Mother is a delight.

Best yet! Thrilling with cliffhanger ending

I am completely addicted to this series - I have completely burned through all my credits, extra credits and am now just shoveling out cash so I can keep going. I love the characters and though there are a lot of them, they are pretty easy to keep straight. I love the depth to all of them, and how sometimes a new chapter will start almost as a tangent and then weave beautifully back into the main plot.

Like many other reviews I would say this is the best yet and YES the narrator now sounds completely normal. I don't know what it is...if the first book was just particularly bad or if I'm just used to it but now it takes nothing away from the story.

I love this series and highly recommend it!

future readings

i wonder in the new Honor releases if Allyson Johnson learns how to pronounce Manticore and a few other words correctly! her reading other than these is great.

Suspense and MORE...

Any additional comments?

I've listened to all the series up to this one...and wasn't sure how this one would play out. I won't spoil this for anyone because this one played with my emotions.... all I can say is that this (book) Episode is Awesome.

Worst shlock

In the first 8 chapters nothing happens. We get treated to character descriptions ad nauseum over and over again. No plot, no nothing. I would be ashamed to be the publisher of this.
There are nothing but descriptive adjectives and adverbs, and sentences beginning with little phrases like "not because, but in fact" , all geared towards an incredibly wordy but meaningless...but I digress. Don't buy this unless you enjoy being very, very bored. I did stop at 8 chapters, which was 7 too many.

Bridge between books

I'm a big Harrington fan. However, this book was probably my least favorite. It's a very good book, it explores some of the motivations behind some of the main characters.

Mostly though this book seems to be a link between a few of the other books. I think much of the story could have been shortened and included in the next book.
