Captivating and addicting

Those two words are right on. The book was fun as things were happening in several locations at once. Now on to The Expanse.

Action packed story

This is book six of the series and it is best to read the books in order. As the story ended in book five with Aurora chasing a Ta’Akar warship into Ta’Akar space, book six has Aurora fighting deep into Ta’Akar space taking the war to the Ta’Akar. The Aurora is fully manned and equipped for the first time in the series.

The story moves at a lighting pace with lots and lots of action, suspense, great land battles and fantastic space battles. Brown continues to build his characters. Cameron, the XO, is now back on duty after spending book five in the hospital recovering from a serious battle injury. Cameron is great in command of the battle command and communication center during the battle of the Ta’Akar home planet. We learn more about Tag in this book as more is revealed about who he is.

Brown’s writing seems to improve with each book. He appears to be a promising new military sci-fi author. Brown kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. This series is a great get away from it all book; it is a quick, fun, entertaining read. I had the feeling that the series was ending with this book but apparently there are more books available to read in this series; cannot wait to start the next book.

Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating the book. Kafer is an award winning audiobook narrator.

Another fantastic military sci-fi from Ryk Brown.

I highly recommend this and every previous member of the Frontiers Saga. I recommend this series to all of my friends and coworkers if they show even an inkling of interest in sci-fi and even to some of those that don't.
And now on to book 7. :)

The best yet of an already great series!

What made the experience of listening to Head of the Dragon the most enjoyable?

The world and character building , Ryk Brown really knows how to wright a smooth flowing story it never feels disjointed and the characters wow the characters you really feel something for them which is almost rare in a military sc-fi novel. Sure many good military sc-fi books generally have a couple characters you care about but there are many I care about in this series "Frontiers Saga", thank you Mr. Brown.

What other book might you compare Head of the Dragon to and why?

Lost Fleet and Star Force series but I like this series better.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely but other responsibility's prevailed.

Any additional comments?

This book as it's name entails "Head Of the Dragon" as in cut the head from the dragon really picks the pace up on the battle scenes compared to the previous books in this series. It was cool to read Ryk Brown cut loose with his battle scenes with many different battles happening at the same time on planet and in space, he can write some action scenes that is for sure!

Tactics, Skulduggery, and Honor

I love the action, the tactics, the tech in my Space Operas! But I feel I must warn you, the undecided Audio Book Purchaser, I had shell stock after I listened to Head of the Dragon. There was so much good action punctuated with destructive turncoats, all consuming vengeance, humor, and new characters, I was red eyed, shaky, and not quite grounded caused by a one sitting listen. Ryk Brown and Jeffry Kafer are a gold plated duo who deliver! I highly recommend Head of the Dragon but also recommend you start with the 1st book in the series. Be prepared for some sleepless nights.....
