Publisher's Summary

Welcome to humanity’s new war: silent, high stakes, and unseen. This is a life-or-death mission for ONI’s black-ops team, Kilo-Five, which is tasked with preventing the ruthless Elites, once the military leaders of the Covenant, from regrouping and threatening humankind again.

What began as a routine dirty-tricks operation - keeping the Elites busy with their own insurrection - turns into a desperate bid to extract one member of Kilo-Five from the seething heart of an alien civil war. But troubles never come singly for Kilo-Five. Colonial terrorism is once again surfacing on one of the worlds that survived the war against the Covenant, and the man behind it is much more than just a name to Spartan-010.

Meanwhile, the treasure trove of Forerunner technology recovered from the shield world of Onyx is being put to work while a kidnapped Elite plots vengeance on the humans he fears will bring his people to the brink of destruction.

Sith Lady

Would you listen to Halo: The Thursday War again? Why?

Yes I would. I will do it to pick up all the little story threads that lead off into possible future story archs and those that fill in gaps about the back stories of several characters.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Admiral Perengowski in particular piqued my interest. She is as bad as any Sith Lord that ever graced the pages of Karen's other novels. Karen dealt with the Elites nobility as well as anyone. They are truly noble within their culture and in battle.

Which character – as performed by Euan Morton – was your favorite?

Admiral Perengowski, easily!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I get upset by the constant use of "chinconi"! Next time how about a coversation with a GI before you record! It's CinC ONI (SINK ONI)! It is Commander in Chief, and is not an Italian word. I grate my teeth everytime he uses it. After 20 years of service, I find that I'm not so flexible on the lexicon.

Any additional comments?

Quietly awaiting the next installment in the series. I could use a timelime to help bring things together for me.

I really enjoy this series.

I love the halo world! And I love this serious. the only reason it did not get five stars is because honestly the hate on Halsey is annoying. I get why most are angry with her because of what she did. But honestly most are just as bad. Anyway I do enjoy all the characters and the story is very fun and good. I honestly love Jul the best. he is my all-time favorite character and I know they supposed to be the bad guy period but most of time I felt myself agreeing with him and completely understanding what he wants to do what he wants to do. I feel the humans pushed him towards that more. I was rooting for him the whole time. even though I love the kilo 5 crew. I really like this series.

A great addition to the series.

Thursday War is a great follow up to Glasslands. Bringing some more interesting looks into the Sangheli homeworld and learning interesting facts about the power of the UNSC's new flagship. Knowing facts about the universe based on the games it starts tying together the events of Halo 3 and 4 with characters starting to learn abot the possibility of a still living forrunner and the threat to earth might be increasing whe a lost Covenant cruiser may have reappeared.

Great read

If you could sum up Halo: The Thursday War in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, gripping, satisfying

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character in the audiobook is Vas, a dry russian character I can relate to. Great moments of humanity shown, and the termoil at choices between regulations and what a decent human would want to do.

What about Euan Morton’s performance did you like?

Good performance, makes the audiobook interesting to listen to, captures action well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definately! When I get an interesting book, I find it hard to turn off, and this is one of those.

An excellent book narrated with style.

Eagerly anticipated this release after thoroughly enjoying Glasslands. This sequel equals the standard of the first book. I hoped they would use the same narrator and they didn't disappoint. I wanted the same narrator as he really adds life to the characters, my favourite being the playful glee of Margaret Parangovsky.

The book itself is excellent with a strong storyline as well as lots of info of the Halo universe, being particularly helpful filling in the gaps between Halo 3 and Halo 4. I can't wait for the last book of the trilogy. Although it will make sense to people that aren't hardcore halo fans I suggest you listen to or read Glasslands first.

Good

Poor Jul, he's just a big misunderstood genocidal alien...

If you want to know what happened between Halo 3 & 4, this is illuminating.
