Publisher's summary

Cade Grayson, father, husband, and former Delta Force operator collected his fair share of ghosts as the Omega virus ravaged the United States, turning the majority of her population into mindless automatons hungering for human flesh.

Wearing incredulous stares, the faces of those ghosts - dozens of men, women, and children he was unable to save during his many forays into the Z-infested wasteland - visit him nightly during the early morning hours when defenses are dulled and REM sleep has him in its firm grip.

For others who lost contact with loved ones during the frantic first hours and days of the Omega outbreak, their ghosts manifest in the nagging possibility that a wife or child or mother or sibling may still be alive out there, somewhere, struggling to survive amongst the multitudes of walking corpses and roving bands of murderous breathers.

So as the Eden survivors prepare their rural Utah compound for the coming fall and winter they find that the herds of dead patrolling the nearby State Route aren't their only enemy.

Idle time seems to be giving power to their ghosts. And with each perceived whiff of familiar perfume, or flash in the side vision of a familiar form that proves to be nonexistent, the lure of wanting to know their fate begins to affect some of the group adversely.

Even after attaining a modicum of closure in the high country of central Idaho, Duncan Winters continues to seek solace for his loss at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

.

when the book started and the narrator began to read, two things simultaneously happened. I immediately hated the change and i was getting tired of phrases like "stay frosty , mr Murphy and 2 things simultaneously happened"

Narrator change is always hard

Would you listen to Ghosts again? Why?

No.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Adam Paul?

Maybe, depending on genre and plot.

Any additional comments?

So this series is pretty awesome. Its in my top 5 over all and probably in my top 3 for zombie series/books. Chris Patton had been the long time narrator and it was changed to Adam Paul for this book. The only thing i hated about Adam Paul's narration was his voicing of Duncan - that was just AWFUL. The author is pretty easily accessible on social media (Facebook) and he addressed this issue and has said that Adam Paul will adjust his voicing of Duncan for the future books. Ok... with all that being said, the book matches the theme and pace of the previous 7 books. This book covers roughly 2 days time period and I was happy that the author didnt spend too much time in one place or scene (which was a difficult focus point for the last book). There are a couple of twists in this book, that while I wasnt entirely expecting, it was good to portray that unfortunate problems can also happen to or impact the main characters.

S Kaye

Adam, I wasn’t sure about you. I’m glad to say you’re doing great work. You crack me up with your gruff Duncan!!! Shawn Chester, you had me at the edge of my seat several times during this installment. My eyes welled up at the end. Super good cliffhanger! Onward to the next one.

I Want More Cade Grayson!

This series is such a heart pumping, tear jerking, realistic story line. Book 8 is the best yet with the Grayson family moving on but still totally intertwined with the past. Looking forward to Frayed Book 9. #STZA

New reader.... not great.

Got use to Chris Patton reading and DEFINITELY miss him. Loving the series but not fan of narrator change.

Great!

Liked the characters and details. Wish all books in this series were 10 + hours long.
