Publisher's summary

Their victory has led only to more dangers and more death...

The Corsairs have been driven away but only temporarily. Jillybean knows they'll be back in even greater numbers, lusting for vengeance. Yet she is trapped on the hilltop surrounded by thousands of zombies, and worse, she is out of medicine and fast becoming dangerously unpredictable.

Things spiral quickly out of control when she is charged with cold-blooded murder, barely escapes a fire that turns the hilltop and half the state to ash, and flees to a city that is being ravaged by a deadly disease.

Mike, Stu, and Jenn do everything they can to help her, only the building stress cracks Jillybean's mind wide open, and Eve emerges in all her dark glory. In her raging insanity, she crowns herself queen - and still the vast Corsair armada draws ever closer.

Even better than book one

Book one started this series with a bang, but this book was even better. A lot happens and there's a lot revealed about events in book one that put a whole new spin on things.

Jillybean is such an interesting character, with her multiple personalities she's so unpredictable, I love this element of the story, she's such a complex character and makes the books so much fun to read. The cracks in her sanity become much larger and yet there is purpose behind all of her actions. The way other characters react to her is also interesting, especially when she makes herself a queen and makes it work.

Mike, Stu and Jenn are also central to the story and there's lots of character growth going on in this book. I loved all the interation and the slowly developing romance between Jenn and Mike.

Thrilling and impossible to put down.

The narration is excellent, the style matches book one, the pacing and tone match the strange situations that occur and the character voices are clear, consistent, and recognizable.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Epic

This was a spectacular listen. Once again in book 2 the story is addicting and well paced. The narrator flawlessly read it just perfectly. I'm really enjoying this series

Another thrill ride!

Zombie tales written this good are my favorites. Love that the tale of Jillybean continues in a future filled with new challenges and new heroes. I can't wait for the next book.

QUEEN JILLY BEAN!

Another awesome book, with JillyBean . I love the little genius. This book has a different band of heroes, all as lovable as Peter’s other series. Can’t wait for the next book. I hope this series is a really long one.

Enjoying this more than the original series

The characters are really interesting and brought to life in perfect detail. I think I do prefer this series over the original Apocalypse (Undead World) series. The plot keeps you speeding through the book and the narrator is captivating enough, too. I only have one point against the narration, and it is the very whiny and high pitched voices that he does for the women. It doesn't match Jen's character at all, for example, making her sound like she is 7! There are ways of making your voice softer without it being so high pitched, for instance. Even Mike's voice is too high pitched. It kind of brings the character down a little - as I read Book 1 and did not listen to the audiobook, they had more firm voices in my head, even if they are young, they are pretty brave and headstrong. I don't think their narration voices match very well at all.

He does have the "crazy Eve" voice down pretty well, with a very squeaky Gollum voice that freaks you out sufficiently well when she makes an appearance.

I don’t even know what to say, I love the first books. And really tried to get through these last two. I just can’t finish this one😕
