Publisher's summary

Meet the galaxy's unluckiest outlaws.

Carl Ramsey is an ex-Earth Navy fighter pilot turned con man. His ship, the Mobius, is home to a ragtag crew of misfits and refugees looking to score a big payday but more often just scratching to pay for fuel. The crew consists of his ex-wife (and pilot), a drunkard, four-handed mechanic, a xeno-predator with the disposition of a 120kg housecat, and the galaxy's most-wanted wizard.

Along the way, the Mobius crew crosses paths with the Black Ocean's vilest scum, from pirate fleets to criminal syndicates, and most law-abiding scum, including Earth Interstellar Enhanced Investigative Organization, ARGO high command, and the Convocation of Wizards.

Time and again, riches lie just out of reach, because for all the talents Carl Ramsey and his crew possess, they've also got an outlaw's greatest weakness: a conscience.

Galaxy Outlaws is a collection of all 16 Black Ocean missions chronicling the adventures of the starship Mobius and her crew, along with six short stories. This series is the perfect cure for the Firefly Season 2 blues. It's what you'd get if The Orville took place on Serenity, or if Star Wars had wizards instead of Jedi.

Far more than I expected (and not just the 80+ hr)

Before I picked up this 80+ hour behemoth, I read a lot of reviews. Even the ones who claimed that it was substandard, said it was a great deal because they got 30 hours into an 80 hour series.

I'm going to go against half of this.

It's an amazing deal, even if you only get 30 hours into it... this is true.

But I'm going to go on record by saying that although this isn't A+ material, and I say that with all love because I really did enjoy this story, it averages at B+ (which isn't bad!)

Even better, that's an average. It does start off a bit awkward (but better than a lot of other audio books I picked up over the years), it has a small slump, in my opinion, around the 30 hour mark, the last half (and this is a FORTY HOUR HALF) is white good.

The author is an amazing world builder, and his characters are truly worth rooting for... even the not-so-friendly ones. ;-)

The narrator put so much life into these characters, it's hard to believe it's actually one person playing all those voices. Every character is extraordinary individual, and the voice acting is incredible.

My advice to you:. Get this. If you stay for the whole 83 hours, you will agree with everything I said above. It was well worth the ride.

if you only get half way through, it's still the best deal for an audio book I've ever seen.

And if nothing else makes a difference, I have listened to well over 200 audio books in the past 5 years:. this is the very first review I've ever written. It mattered.

Worth several credits

If I could wipe my mind of one audio book so that I could experience it fresh, it would be this. I cheered and laughed out loud. I know the characters, I care for them deeply. The story can be predictable at times, but not obnoxiously so. It's more that I know the characters so well that I have an idea of what choice they would make, and it does not ruin the excitement of the story.
All in all this is a fantastic story with great flow and plot movement, bolstered by the fantastic voice acting. I would not change anything about this book.

Great epic worthy of Academic study!

Galaxy outlaws is a tale worthy of a tv series and video game adaptation. Go through the lives of the legends truly was a thrill ride and the ending was the most fulfilling thing I’ve felt in media. So many writers throw away there worlds with massive events that either make the world into a plot hole riddled utopia or everyone one loses their magic. But not JS he’s the first to not only keep the world alive but also promise to expand and explore more of it! Thank you JS

Massively Entertaining Space Western Fun!!!

I found this series while looking for the longest listening experience I could find to entertain me during my commute and boy, did it deliver! Over 80 hours of fun for only 1 credit is about the best deal you could ask for, to the point where I feel like I somehow scammed audible, lol. As a self confessed spiritual successor to Firefly, this series pushed all the right buttons for me and could have fit right in with Mal Reynold's crew's escapades. Now that I have finished, I'm left craving more, and will definitely check out the rest of what JS Morin has to offer. Do yourself a favor and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

This story pulls harder then atoms

The Narrator is simply amazing I mean really good. You would swear it was more then one. the story as predictable as the outcome may be never seems to stop you from being shocked as to how it happens. And the world building used is incredible, makes you wanna run to NASA, begging for a chance to be a astronaut.

I am honestly not one for Sci-fi though I do love magic and fantasy realms so I gave it a chance. and even with all the choices options and busy life, I listened to the whole thing without changing it once to another entertainment as I worked drove or laid about the room relaxing.

Honestly I hope the Author and Narrator read this review just so I can say "Thank you for all the time, and enjoyment I had sharing in the story you brought to life."

So sad it’s over.

Loved it. Wish I could fly with the crew. I’m searching out the other titles, I hope they are half as good.

This collection is Amazing!

I listened to this collection at first because it was 85 hours long and I wanted to get a lot out of one credit. I have since used many more credits to buy many of J.S. Morins books! He has done a great job with Galaxy Outlaws and I was Mort'ified when it ended. I ended up getting his other books based in the Black Ocean and have loved those as well. Great characters and a great narrator to bring them to life!

Thanks for the experience :)

What a ride.

Well I have spent what seems like forever living with this rag tag gang swarming in my head and I have to say I will miss the antics. This story is fully worth listening to and it is truly full of memorable moments. Thanks for the ride.

Best of ALL Worlds!

I have listened to and read many books, but of them this series is one of my favorites of all time. The next runner up is a series by the same author, with the same narrator. My lack of vocabulary really feels apparent to me writing this review. This series, the characters, the universe, the writing, and the narrator are truly breath taking. I've loved every minute of this series. It is my sincere hope that everyone who stumbles across it in anyway picks it up and falls deeply in love with it like I have. It is a MUST read!
