not my style

Not too impressed with the writing style in general. The overall tenor of the book was sophomoric. The lead character was rather weak and lacked depth and the final conflict was unbelievably flaccid. Probably meant more for the teenage audience.

Not for the old

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I would recommend this for young adults (read girls under 15)

Did Heidi Baker do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

With a main character so annoying the voice portraying it will have a very hard time. I don't think there is anything else she could have done to please me.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story/plot had some nice ideas.

Any additional comments?

The big issue with the book is that everything is spelled out. Only thing that was missing was the sitcom laughs in the background telling me that this was supposed to be funny. The whole book is like: "It rains. I get wet." "Look a boy. I think I am in love with him." "We are out riding. This is a moment of sexual tension."There is nothing in the book even hinting on an explanation as to why. For me that makes the main character come across as an erratic brat and I could not get past it. If this had been a paper book I would have gone through it just to get to the plot (which seemed fairly interesting), but being an audio book 7h is simply too much time to spend on something that could probably be summarized in a page or two of writing.

Sub par.

This story line and the characters were quite difficult to follow and annoying to figure out. The way the narrator was narrating also made the story challenging to keep track of. I believe that if that narrator practiced her reading skills better, such as including softer tones, monotone for thoughts, this story would have been better. However, the narrator's constant higher pitch and sing song melody to her reading made it difficult to distinguish between thoughts and dialog and other characters speaking. Eventually, I got so bored listening to this book that I stopped and put on another book that I would rather be eating my time with.

Many storyline details left out

There were so many vital characters that just dropped off. The story did not flow and felt choppy and left me confused as to what Frey is. The same with most of the key characters. I was surprised when the storyline simply ended... disappointed.

A strong 4 out of 5

The story keeps ur attention enough til the very abrupt end. Slightly want to read next enstallment. Frey and her journey along with Chevell are interesting. Learning her past and seeing humans through elve eyes is a good storyline.

Just ok

I found this story to be very wordy and full of a lot of unnecessary angst. since I listen to the to the book through Audible I found myself on more than one occasion thinking that the "heroine " needed to stop feeling sorry for herself and get on with business. I have not yet decided if I'm going to continue with the series.

Easy to listen to, and kept me wanting to plug my ear buds in to see what would happen next.

I enjoyed this book

The story kept me coming back for more with this book. As always I want there to be more, but i get that all books have to end. I will definitely look for more by this author!

love fantasy hated this.

I'm not sure if I have ever cared less about the main character of a book.
I found myself praying she would be finished off by a monster.
A game of thrones twist would have been wonderful!
worse than reading it is the Audible version so grating and I paid for it.
I will listen far more closely next time!
