Publisher's summary

Despite dating one vampire and living with another, Rachel Morgan has always managed to stay just ahead of trouble...until now.

A fiendish serial killer stalks the Hollows, and no one living in or around Cincinnati - human, inhuman, or undead - is safe.

An ancient artifact may be the key to stopping the murderer - a mysterious relic that is now in the hands of Rachel Morgan, fearless independent bounty hunter and reckless witch. But revealing it could ignite a battle to the death among the vast and varied local supernatural races.

Rachel's been lucky so far. But even she can't hide from catastrophe forever.

Disapointed

For the 5th book in the series, Rachel is another heroin that the character doesn't seem to grow as books progress, she seems suck in this whiney teenage girl that is a hippocrate. As far as being a hunter, she really hasn't done ANY hunting in the past 5 books. She has gotten her ass handed to her many times and saved by others many many times.

Rachel does it again...

What made the experience of listening to For a Few Demons More the most enjoyable?

This is a good, story, but not great like book 4.....the first half of the book drags a bit, but as a true Rachel fan, I knew it would get better...and BAM...the 2nd half of this book was incredibly awesome....

What was one of the most memorable moments of For a Few Demons More?

When Rachel tries to make a deal with the artifact...and it turns into a violent blood bath...I felt so bad for her....always trying to do something good, and it backfires....

Which character – as performed by Marguerite Gavin – was your favorite?

I love Rachel of course, but then Jenks....and Al....

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they find Kisten....I was so sad....I loved him and he didn't deserve that....

Any additional comments?

I love this series, but since book 6 is not narrated by Marguerite Gavin, I will be reading it the old fashioned way on My Kindle....lol then I will go back to audio for book 7!

Mixed feelings

I honestly don't know why I finished reading this book. Rachel Morgan makes me angrier than any other fictional character ever has. EVER. There are a lot of reasons TOO read this book, Jenks of course, Trent, all of the other characters that make The Hollows enjoyable. However, the main character is stupid, irrational, ridiculous, ignorant and a bunch of other words that infuriate me. I'm sure you can actually see steam coming from my ears.

Rachel...too stupid to live

The story is amazingly complex which keeps me coming back. Rachel is just a hot headed twit. Thank goodness she has people who care enough about her to save her from herself. Sad about Kisten though. Hope Rachel will mature and smarten up before anyone else gets killed

Getting tired of parts of the storyline

I have loved this series, and the way Marguerite Gavin narrates them. Jenks, especially, has been a hilarious part of the stories. But I am getting tired of Ivy's antics. Quite frankly, I have never been a fan of situations where one person tries to high pressure, or even force, someone to have sex with them. I can't find anything likable about this character who thinks she has the right to force someone else to live by what she want, dictating what Rachel's allowed to do. Nevermind what Rachel wants. And I really can't understand how Rachel is willing to put up with all the unreasonable demands Ivy puts on her. For this reason, I'm a little leary about continuing with this series. I think, at the very least, I will be taking a break from this series for a while.

Narrator

Marguerite Gavin is the perfect narrator for this book. Rachel and Jenks are spot on. The next book in this series is narrated by someone else and it's a huge disappointment. Piscary's isn't pronounced correctly and the narrator sounds like a child. Bring back Marguerite for all future books, please!

Male haram with some cool story.

Any additional comments?

Male haram with some cool story.

So I tried this series again since I really couldn’t find anything new and good and I did like the overall story.

And what I found was that if you go into this with the mindset that it is not a story which is suppose to develop important aspect but instead an haram, with some good story elements in, then it is actually pretty good.

There is an extreme amount of sexsual frustration coming from the author, and it can be distracting.
The main character seems to want to fuck anything and anyone with a pulse, and she cant lay her eyes on a character that is introduced without instantly going to “uhh that’s hot I could fuck that”, which gets old and removes the whole idea of attractive people.
But look at it as a male haram and you will be used to this (if you read manga or watch anime at least).

The overall story is really interesting and the bi-characters around the main is interesting.
The story have more plotholes than a ceiling after it was hit with a tornado, and the auther seems to forget what she just stated 3 hours earlier and ignoring the outcome of this.
As an example: SPOILER!! (will try not to, so no names).

A character gets bitting by a vampire in the throat and she tells how the vampire bites down deep and RIPS its teeth out, then tells how the main looks at the damage and explicitly explain that because of how the hole is RIPPED up there is no way the character will survive.
1 hours later in the story the author then tells how the holes is was done so precise with surgically that they are now healing nicely….

SPOILER ENDING
Yer that happened…. The author seems to not remember what she wrote which is annoying, and it happens A LOT!.

On top of that the author constantly forgets how her own magic system works and it seems like magic is apparently only used in the “because plot needs it” and is not used when “plot needs you to forget that you got an awesome arsenal of magic that would 100% totally solve this problem with ZERO downsides”.

The worst thing about this book and what actually made me sad was how at the end the author takes a GIANT leap and does something AWESOME! And AMAZING that can REALLY explode the mains development but then 30min later in the story and 100% “by the power of PLOT” completely negates what was done and puts it back to “status qou” even though it makes zero chance to the storyline neither is it possible to do following all rules that have been established -.-

It truly feels like the author is stealing someone else’s story and just writing it here. Because the overall story ark and some of the setups are truly too good to be written/made by the same person that can’t even remember how the story and rules of the story have been made :/
It makes me sad because I would much rather hear the story told from the person who actually came up with the overall story ark, instead of the watered down version we get here.

When all that is said I did enjoy it even though I many times had to tell myself that I should ignore the complete lack of consistency in the world that was made, and ignore all the moments which made zero sense for the story.

Done with this series

What would have made For a Few Demons More better?

This series has devolved into total ridiculousness. I LOVED the first 2 books, and I kept wanting to like the last one. This one, however, I could barely finish. I'm done with this series.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kim Harrison again?

No

Rachel doing stupid things and not thinking clearly? what else is new? I'm still rooting for her.

Urban Fantasy at it's Best!

I loved this book but hated parts of it. Once again the book is nonstop action that leaves your head spinning and your heart reeling. There is a particularly steamy scene, which is the first in the series that I remember, that made quite an impression with me. The world building continues and The Hollows becomes more complicated and intriguing.

I would warn folks that it you are a big Rachel fan you may want to make sure that you finish the book in private because there are some heart wrenching events that are better read uninterrupted. A great book.
