Publisher's summary

An elite group of military assassins are preparing for an assault on the Greenbrier bunker, their mission to remove all traces of President Glass and her supporters. It is up to Deputy Marshal Mason Raines, his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, and a beautiful Mossad agent to stop them. But as they race across the country, new dangers threaten to disrupt their plans, including ravagers that terrorize the roadways in armored cars.

When Mason stops to search for munitions at an Army depot, he is recruited by a corps of young cadets to help recover their missing commandant. Little does he know that the depot has become the home for hundreds of bloodthirsty survivors. Pinned down and hopelessly outnumbered, Mason must put his skills and trusty Supergrade to the ultimate test.

Tanner and Samantha depart on a quest to put an end to President Pike's growing tyrannical rule. Along the way, they must confront the most violent of men, including a psychotic Delta Force soldier who has taken to skinning his victims, and a band of Mexican drug dealers that insist on young Samantha's help in recovering their lost payload. Only as they push into the nation's capital does Samantha realize that Tanner plans to call upon her father's killer to help them survive the terrors beneath the city.

Zombie battle royal?

What would have made The Survivalist better?

A story with more heart...this story is way too mechanical ... Kinda like a person that can sit down in front of a piano play every note in front if him without emotion and the next artist needs no music to make you feel every note. This book has that kind of disconect

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Cartel

Would you be willing to try another one of John David Farrell’s performances?

I don't think I would be interested at this time maybe at some later date after I have forgotten this story

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The dog and his story was interesting

Bang! You will be tense!

Must read or listen. You are on the edge of your seat most of the time. The narrator does an excellent job. He changes voices and dialects perfectly!

Book was a little short.

Good book, kept my attention. Was a little short for price. A ten hour book should be around five bucks.

short

I feel like this series gets shorter and shorter with each book and they're trying to extend the story to get to a 10 book series. I like the story but I don't like how the books get shorter and shorter and I have to pay more and more to read.

Use of weapons not realistic

There are just too many times in this series that the weapons are not used correctly of have way too much damage. Also, Deputy Marshal Mason Raines doesn't have the ability to change with the times and keeps wanting to have an old western quick draw contest. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines also can't think ahead when it comes to weapons, he only has one pistol and one rifle. He is also able to do a barrel change on an AR-15 without any tools. The author only has book knowledge about weapons and it shows.
If it wasn’t for the Tanner and Samantha part of the story line I would have given up on this series after the first book. However, I can’t slog through anymore to hear about Tanner and Samantha.
I will not get any more of this series.

It has been a while since I read this series and I noticed I had not rated all the books. This was a good dystopian sires that kept my interest. Not great but good.
