Publisher's Summary

My name is Frank Butcher, and evidently when you save the world, it comes back for seconds.

After I stopped a world ending apocalypse, my allies tried to cut open my chest with an axe. Kind of messed up, if you ask me.

Thankfully, I've got a chance to return the favor. And I'm going to take it. Not because they're trying to magically reshape the natural laws that govern our planet. No, I'm doing this because trying to cut out my heart is not okay.

    "Good listen"

This second book of the series was just as action packed as the first. The narration was excellent, making it a very enjoyable listen. It ended in another cliff hanger.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    Which scene was your favorite?

This book was well-written and full of non-stop action with Frank getting used to having an artificial, magic-cancelling heart and being more comfortable with the world of magic.

Feet of Clay is the follow up to Heart of Gold, which I enjoyed quite a bit when I read it back Nov or Dec of last year. Perhaps follow up isn't quite the right word, more like the continuation of the Frank Butcher saga. Feet of Clay picks up almost immediately where Heart of Gold ended, and I imagine, given how this one ends, that the 3rd book, Fists of Iron, will pick up right where this one left off. I say this as perhaps a kind of subtle warning. While a little backstory/recap is done, it's more or less assumed you know the characters and what is going on, which is great if you are binging a series of books, cuts out what may often feel like repetitive parts in a series, but it can also hurt or be a bit confusing if it's been a while since you read the previous volumes. Just an FYI.

Onto the book itself. Feet of Clay, like the previous book, is a fast paced, action packed, light hearted adventure. Main character Frank Butcher is a fun/likable character, and his mother, as always, is a hoot. Once again he's in deep trouble (as is all of humanity) and he's doing his best to keep his head above water and save the day, while throwing out the occasional pop culture references, which my inner geek always appreciates.

Joe Hempel, who narrated the previous book, once again delivers a solid performance.

    "Gold!"
What did you love best about Feet of Clay?

Frank Butcher and his smart mouth. It is absolutely hysterical.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well obviously Frank, to know him is to love his smart-alecky ways. Irreverent as always.

What does Joe Hempel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Snark, snark and more snark. Joe has a way of reading Frank that just wouldn't be the same if I just read it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    I giggled a lot.

    Any additional comments?

This book was given to me by the author/narrator/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

"Awesome Follow up to the First Book!!!!"

Feet of Clay: Clans of the Shadow, Volume 2 picks up right where the first book left off. If you liked the action, snark, and adventure filled world of magic of the first book you will love this follow up audio book. Frank and Gabi are back and up to there necks in trouble betrayed by the White who have her son Max and Franks Mom. It is a great story to get lost in for an afternoon.

The amazing Joe Hempel narrates this awesome story. He brings Frank to life like no one else ever could. I laughed out loud several times at the dialogue. There are some lines between Frank and his Mom...just classic stuff. Joe Hempel is at the top of his game and makes this a great world to get lost in.
