Publisher's summary

The galaxy burns at Horus' command, and a billion more lives are lost with each passing moment - though it was not always so. Once, the title of Warmaster stood for honour, loyalty and a fierce pride in the strength of the Space Marine Legions. But perhaps by following the myriad lines of destiny and defiance that were already woven around the primarchs and their sons, we may yet come to understand the bitterness that can eat away at even the most steadfast of souls....

Another mediocre anthology

Another anthology that maybe 3 stories that are worth listening to. The performances were all of good quality though

Decent short stories

Some of the pronunciations were inexcusable. Aside from that decent short stories. Seemed to focus a lot on the traitor legions.

Good world building

I understand why the short story anthologies can be tiring to get through for people, but they add a lot to the setting and some of them are important to the overall story.

Decent Anthology

Like with the anthology stories, they are more filler for the wider conflict, and provide some context for future events. I would say this one has probably some of the best stories so far.
-Lorgar’s Pilgrimage
-Iron Warrior taking control of a Titan
-A Planetary Governor’s resolve

Lots of good lil stories

Apart from a few glaring *mis-reads*, the narrators all did a good job. Nice variety of stories & characters & settings. One of the better compilations. I just hate that a lot of the stories I read as stand alone novellas are reprinted in these later Horus Heresy compilations. Means about 1/3rd of the tales were old news. Not that I don't appreciate the performance of them in an audiobook, but in paperback it's a bit of a waste.

A better anthology than the previous

While the timeline of each story was even more sporadic, most felt well timed and not old or overstated. Again, the last few stories probably carry a bit of recency bias due to how good they were.

Many great stories

Another good book that allows one to see different aspects of what is taking place in many different story lines. Great book.
