Publisher's Summary

The Shadow has taken control, and Kingdom of Heaven's last hope has found himself trapped somewhere else entirely.

After falling victim of the evil lord Shadow's manipulations, college dropout turned reluctant gaming hero Iron Jack has been trapped in the much fabled but seldom visited lower levels of what was once his favorite video game.

In a dangerous world where the rules are different and nothing is as it seems, Iron Jack must look for a way back to the world he's sworn to protect and the people he's come to care about, including the hottest angel chick in any realm.

When he finds his old crew, the Avenging Angels there, he thinks he's got a leg up on the Shadow and his dastardly plans, but Iron Jack will soon find that things aren't as simple as he hoped, and even a world as complicated as Kingdom of Heaven has a dark underbelly.

Welcome to Hell, Iron Jack. Hope you survive the experience.

Iron Jack is Back and there's gonna be hell to pay

The first bonus is that the book starts with a recap, so if for some starnge reason you didn't read it first and then just decided to pick this up you will have a good idea of what has gone on before. Next, I have to say this is one of the cooler concepts and I love how Jack is in Hell, but his gaming buddies that he is going into battle with have no idea of the truth. It leads to some seriously funny moments, and some that would be extremely irritating to you if you were Jack. Can you imagine going into a life and death battle only to hear your comtrade munching a snack while you are trying desperately to stay alive?

Next, this is an awesom team-up with J.A. Cipriano & Conner Kressley, who work together as hell as Leopold and Loeb. They make quite a pair, and it never occured to me how many time Cipriano has teamed up with someone. He's good at it, as I have yet to find any flaws in his work. The story is fast, furious, and full of brimstone and hellfire. Iron Jack is really going to work if he wants to save his guildmates and himself. Just remember, he's playing for keeps.

Now, I have to take a deep breath because this is the place where I talk about the Narration. Jeff Hays and SBT really hit their stride with this book. They pull out all the stops and help to create an auidtory experience that hasn't been seen since the old time radio programs tried to make you see the story with your mind. Hays' delivery is as near perfect as you can get without having events spool out live before your eyes. He crushes every voice that he does, and you really feel like you are experiencing the story in THX (or something).

Can I just say that the cover to the book is Be A Dee AH S S! Jack looks like he is ready to whoop some but, and who be he who stands in his way! The story runs just shy of five full hours of run time, so this is a quick enjoyable romp into Hell. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

A fast moving, fantasy game book

Escape from Hell is the fast moving second part of the Skull Throne series. This fantasy game book is intense and full of action with a fair amount of humor thrown in as well. It's a bit of a cliffhanger ending. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Contains language and violence. I'd recommend it for teens and older.

The narrator of the audiobook is very good!

Bring on book 3!!!!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, this was a good, and fun LitRPG story that picks right up where the last book ends. Thankfully, the main character is more accepting of his situation and doesn't come across as thick headed as he did in the first book. It's narrated by the fantastic Jeff Hays (honestly one of my all time favorite narrators anymore). All in all, this was a really enjoyable listen.

Surprisingly good

I wasn't really sure I'd like this series since I don't play any RPG's but I liked book one so I decided to keep going and I'm glad I did. I'm impressed by how well the authors bring the world to life and make it believable that a person could be drawn into the world.

It's interesting to watch the character development in a book like this where it's real for some characters and a game for others.

It was interesting to see Jack re-united with his team and see how he interacted with them after everything he experienced in book one.

The story keeps growing on me and I'm looking forward to book 3 and seeing what happens next.

The narration is well done and I thought the character voices were believable and the delivery was dynamic and made me feel like I was part of the action.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Team must make it or he is stuck in hell!

Escape from Hell: A LITRPG Adventure
Kingdom of Heaven, Book 2
By: J.A. Cipriano, Conner Kressley
Narrated by: Jeff Hays, Soundbooth Theater
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
This continues the story and the team now has to battle out of this level. The problem is, Iron Jack is really feeling every bit of it. If they all don't make it out, they will have to restart and make new characters. Iron Jack can't, he would be stuck there. In hell. They meet new friends and enemies. There are very funny parts. Jack is listening to his team eat as he is battling and getting bruised. It reminds him how safe they are and how close to death he is. One comments on how out of breath he is after they make a long run, of course he is really running and they ask if he is on a cross track trainer or such. It is very clever. Lots of humor and silly things things thrown in to keep it fun! Loved all the fun characters. Felt I knew them all, they were so well crafted.
The narrator was absolutely wonderful! From a sultry woman to a willy jackal, he had the voices down perfect!

Hell of a good time.

Escape from Hell picks up where book 1: The Skull Throne left off. Our hero, Iron Jack, is in the lower realms and must find a way out or be trapped there forever. Unlike regular players of the Kingdom of Heaven game, he can't just quit and make a new character. Nope, Jack is really in the game, and dying in the lower realms will trap him there for eternity. As bad as that is, the love of his life is also counting on him because apparently Jack is the only one who can defeat The Shadow, who is out to control the entire world (worlds? realms? whatever...bottom line he's one bad dude and Jack needs to kick his butt.) As with most of J.A. Cirpriano's work, this book is loaded with action and humor.

This book is narrated by the insanely talented Jeff Hays. As with all of the books Jeff narrates, he gives each and every character their own voice and personality. He doesn't so much narrate as he performs. I've listened much of his work and he never disappoints.
