Publisher's summary

Kyle Riggs has been away from Earth for a long time.... What’s happening back home? In Empire, the sixth book of the Star Force Series, the story moves in a new direction.

Earth falls quiet, and the few reports coming out of the homeworld are increasingly strange. Isolated in the Eden system, Riggs realizes his enemies are forming an alliance against him. Crushed between two monstrous fleets, the last defenders of Star Force must forge their own alliance with the biotic aliens. But which alien race can Riggs truly trust?

EMPIRE OR COLONY?

The fortress is completely built, it's time to build ships, but
The Earth stopped communicating with Riggs
He has terrible personnel problems, he has only 300 men
And all his neighbors, damn Crustaceans, Blues and Crow are plotting against him,
The question is who friend and who is foe?

PS
Sometimes I think it is The Only Original Sci-Fi series

Next book is "Annihilation" and I hope it will available very soon!

Heart-pounding adventure

B V Larson's Star Force series has become the standard by which I judge all military sci-fi.

This is book 6 in the series and if you're not on board yet, YOU ARE REALLY MISSING OUT! I just finished and I'm sort of in an overwhelmed shocked state of being. SOOO much happened. There wasn't a dull moment. The writing is the best it's ever been and it just keeps getting better and better.

This one was epic as Kyle faces off against enemies both biotic and machine! It's supposed to be the biotics/us and all the other life forms they've discovered against these psycho macro ships right? Well, I can't and won't even tell you what Crowe has managed to do to Earth back home and all sorts other treachery and near fatal things that threatened Rigg's Pigs.

I laughed (mostly at Marvin's antics, and the Centaurs), I pumped my fists, I thought about human nature. I can't wait for more!

Too Many Things Happened Here!!!

First of all let me talk about the narration: its the same as before BUT, there is a faint echo you can hear from time to time during the narration. but its not that big of a deal, its just disturbing ...

Lets talk about the book itself: it was a really good one. Too many things happened in this book, to many changes and a good amount of twists. What I like about this one is that so many actions in it.... not a much of chat time and not doing anything, which is a good thing here.

When i saw this book available in audible i stopped what i was listening to and start reading / listening to this one. ... i just can't believe how far it has been and how many changes happened since the first book.

Enjoy!!!!

Those of you that have been hooked on this series, Empire will not disappoint. This book really had a twist i never saw coming. Its a great listen.

I really want to meet Quan and hang out with him, his jokes crack me up.

I really hope that there is at least one more book in this series. This one ended and left me wondering.

Another fantastic adventure - unbeatable series

If you could sum up Empire in three words, what would they be?

fun, addicting, flawless

Who was your favorite character and why?

Marvin - You just really never know what he is up to or what he is going to do.

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mark Boyett does a fine job narrating, his voice is smooth and does not distract the listener.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is a book/series that is very hard to put down, I finished it in two sittings.

Any additional comments?

This is book 6 and is not one you can read without reading the previous novels starting with book 1 Swarm. Science Fiction is not normally something I would get heavily involved in but this series has captivated since book one, hopefully book 7 Annihilation is released on Audible soon. If you are here reading these reviews then that means you are somewhat intrigued so do yourself a favor and start reading the series you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the best sci fi series ever

Would you consider the audio edition of Empire to be better than the print version?

I like the audio version because I am on the move a lot at work and at home so it's easier for me to listen and it's particularly nice when you have a great performer with a good vioce. That's the case with this series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kyle Riggs. He is the everyman. He is not a super scientist or a super spy or a super warrior. He is just an ordinary guy thrown into a meat grinder of a situation and he roe to it.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really liked the space station. The thought of actually being out there.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

In this series there were many emmorable moments. In this edition, I would have to say when he sent the trator general packing and destroyed his satalites.

Any additional comments?

I hope there are many more books to come for this series, aditionally I hope the Larson comes out with more scifi like this.

Which character – as performed by Mark Boyett – was your favorite?

The little robot marvin is funny insightful and a great addition to the story.

Any additional comments?

I highly recomend that this whole series be listened to. It is escapist, action packed fun. It could make a great movie series.

I'm losing all respect for Kyle Rigs

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Kyle Rigs is seriously starting to tick me off. I understand wanting to make a "human" character with "human" flaws, but this is getting ridiculous. His love triangle is getting old. His lying, cheating and manipulation of allies is getting old. His increasing lack of ethics is getting old. His lack of any strategic planning and awareness is getting old. The only thing not getting old is his attitude - it's becoming more and more juvenile.

Do you think Empire needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Absolutely - this is an epic story - I just hope that in the future, we witness a return of a Kyle Rigs that we can once again respect.

Any additional comments?

Mark Boyett continues to do an excellent job with the narration. I would just suggest that he maintain a set distance from the mic (unless going for effect).

More Fun for Kyle Riggs of Star Force

Kyle Riggs, with the help of his trusted military officers, and Marvin, a sentient artificial life form, must battle impossible odds as Star Force faces enemies on all fronts.

At the same time that Star Force is fighting for its very life, Kyle Riggs attempts to delve into the relationships between the Blues, the Macros, and the Nanos. Unraveling that mystery could be the key to survival. However, things are looking bad back on Earth, where Crow has used his military might as leverage to gain enormous power.

These are fast, rollicking page-turners that keep you in suspense the whole way through. BV Larson's imagination does not fail him as we see new approaches to many brand new challenges.

The characters are immensely likeable and you root for each one along the way, even Marvin, who seems to always be a step ahead of Kyle Riggs, much to Star Force's benefit, and Kyle Rigg's chagrin. Once again Mark Boyett increases the enjoyment of these audiobooks with his talented portrayal of characters of all nations (and species).
