Publisher's summary

The bards of Waterdeep remember the past. Or do they? Even as they sing their ballads, a mysterious spell is changing their memories. Danilo Thann, Harper and would-be bard, sets out to uncover the mystery. In this quest, his closest companion is his deadliest enemy, the rogue elf Elaith Craulnober.

At stake is not merely the future of Faern but also its past.

Outstanding!

What an awesome story involving Magic and song combined! The narrator does a terrific job bring life to the characters. Will recommend.

Typical Forgotten Realms. Good story.

I wish there was more with Eliath Craunobler but overall I liked the book and the series. Danilo is a favorite as is the original Blackstaff. Their back and forth banter was enjoyable and we got to learn more about their relationship. As I said above, it is a good story.

Bard craft, it is a wonder.

If there's one thing that has always been an interest for me it's been playing a bard. But I've never thought that they were a very powerful and useful class. With this novel, I have gained insight into stories and adventures that would make playing a bard would be a great experience, the book has reinvigorated my imagination and I look forward to the next story that Cunningham has written.

Bardic Knowledge

With a good understanding of Bards and their importance, Elaine Cunningham’s Songs and Swords Pentalogy is a great DND series with Elfsong being my favorite so far.

Let the Good Times Roll

Would you consider the audio edition of Elfsong to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version but Eric Michael Summerer does a very nice job. Especially, when it comes to voices the different characters.

What other book might you compare Elfsong to and why?

Just like the first book in the series (Elfshadow), the story is really tight and easy to follow. Characters are fun and kept it going.

What about Eric Michael Summerer’s performance did you like?

He does a wonderful job narrating the different characters. One of the best at changing characters that I have heard on Audible. I will purposefully look for FR books narrated by him in the future.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Towards the end as the story starts to finish up. There are a few scenes that tie things together nicely.

Any additional comments?

Even without Arilyn in this book (she is off on another Harper quest) I think I liked it better than the Elfshadow. Dannilo is great as always (without him constantly trying with Arilyn) along with a few other elf companions.

Elaine has done a very nice job keep these stories tight and easy to follow. It goes a long way.
