Painfully Amateurish

Don't waste money on this like I did. It features overwrought writing and a laughable plot that has a secret Chinese-Israeli alliance launching a surprise nuclear attack on the US -- targeting three warheads for Pittsburgh! -- and a "nuclear cloud" that sends temperatures plummeting to 50 degrees below zero (but only for a few days!)

Not what I expected - painfully slow

The story is painfully slow and the narration is hurried, dispassionate and distracting.

I enjoy fictional apocalyptic/survival stories but I couldn't get past the first hour of this one. I had high hopes and made the all too common mistake of judging a book by its cover, which initially intrigued me. The synopsis was intriguing as well. I can usually gut through at least the first half of stories that seem slow-to-start but this one dragged painfully in my opinion. To be fair, I only listened to the first hour of this book.

The story was extremely slow for my taste. I appreciate that the author of the book wanted to narrator the audiobook version but her pace was hurried and her voice and tone conveyed no passion for her own story.

It is easy to be critical of books and I always feel bad giving bad feedback when I myself dare not even write. I read/listen a lot but writing stories like this and putting yourself out there takes guts. For that I commend the author's effort. I am sorry to say, however, this one was a bust for me.

Good Story

I very much enjoyed this story and the narrative was effective as well. I wanted to read something about survival that did not involve zombies and Dust did not disappoint. Also, it was informative. I had some, "I never knew that" moments when it came to the effects of nuclear fallout. I very much recommend this story.

Good story

This is a good story. The characters are well-developed and the story comes to a satisfactory conclusion. No contrived plot twists or anything. It's well-developed.

I love Jackie as the narrator!

This exactly is why I prefer female over male narrators! She does the male characters perfectly.

A male trying to mimic a female voice makes her sound like a little old lady every time.

The story kept my attention and there's always a surprise you don't expect.

I'm never disappointed with this author's stories.

Two for one

Once again Jacqueline Druga has not failed in capturing the very reason reading, or listening to audible books bring such enjoyment. This also being the first book of hers that I had the pleasure of hearing, that she was the audible narrator was a added bonus. MS.J Druga has a way of passing on some very vital information, that could save a life or two all while keeping one In grossed in a story filled with the need to know what happens next. nothing like a book that educates and brings enjoyment.

Dust - A basement saga

What made the experience of listening to Dust the most enjoyable?

That it was over. No, not really. I enjoyed the book and the story, but not so much on the narrator's performance.

What other book might you compare Dust to and why?

None that I can think of.

What didn’t you like about Jacqueline Druga’s performance?

Her voice just doesn't sound good for audio books. The banter between characters was almost unbearable. She has a good voice for nagging, but I don't like nagging.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Dust - A basement saga

Any additional comments?

Overall the story was good. It dealt mainly with people living together under tough circumstances in small quarters. A couple of the scenes really got my attention due to being a twist I wasn't expecting or the one tough scene in the garage with Tammy. The story was good, but the narration was a bit hard to listen to. Overall I would recommend it as a good story.

Good Story, Excellent Narration

This is a well presented and interesting story of The end of days or perhaps the beginning of other days. It's about an average groupe of people who think they have prepared for the end.
They discover very quickly that things never go as planned however their plans do in some cases save some lives. the characters are well developed and feel real. they go through hell and jacqueline Druga Takes you right along with them. They stagger and fall, dis obey and dis-honor each other while slowly forging their life needing bonds.Excellently told by Druga. wish she would narrate all her story's.
