Publisher's summary

"There's only one rule … don't get hit."

Ryan's life sucks.

His brother is a jerk, his mom is sick, and his legs are next to useless thanks to a neurological disorder. Plus the world ended two centuries ago from nuclear war. Now, what's left of humanity live below ground, with the only escape from reality being the massive VR world of Crystal Shards Online.

But even in the game, Ryan's life sucks. Unable to play a combat class due to his condition, he works as a miner, earning barely enough to get by and not nearly enough to afford the operation that will save his mom's life.

When Ryan discovers an item that grants the ability to dodge any attack, however, he has the chance to become one of the game world's most elite and sought after players: a Dodge Tank.

But for someone who's never played a combat class, success isn't so easily had.

To save his mom, Ryan will have to overcome his disability and level his way to the top. But the real-world consequences are more far reaching than he ever could have imagined and the fate of not just his mother, but humanity itself, may be resting in his hands.

One of the best of LitRPG

This is one of the best LitRPG series I’ve read/listened to, and I’ve listened to just about all of them. The interaction between real and virtual is very well thought out. The characters are well done as well. Just wish there was more written already!!

Needed a little extra work, but good

This review is for Books 1-3.

Imagine a couple on the beach and a 100 ft tsunami is 100 yards out. The couple stand there chit chatting about nonsense when they should be RUNNING TO HIGHER GROUND. <— just a hypothetical

This happens throughout the series and becomes laughable in book 3.

The flawed MC becomes an annoying crybaby in book 3, and the narrator just makes it worse.

This series could’ve been in my top five if just a little more editing was done to smooth over the MC and correct several glaring continuity issues. Still, I’ll probably continue with book 4 when it comes out, because, well, you know how it is. Hopefully the editing will be better.

Fantastic premise and outstanding plot, but with flaws. I guess overall worth the credit.

pretty good

predicrable for the most part, story seemed weak and not very though out/rushed. kinda boring in the middle, had to push to keep interest, nice twist at the end.

An engaging listen if a little predictable

The drama is a little over the top and you can kind of see one of the dynamics of a relationship from a mile off. But all-in-all worth listen.

good story and good characters

I like this book. I actually care about whats happen inside and outside the vr mmo rpg. In other litrpg books I didn't care about the real world.
