Publisher's summary

The prophecy foretells the rise of evil intent on ruling all the kingdoms. For generations, Maea's family has met this foe and destroyed it before it could be unleashed. But now the power that her ancestors used to stop it in the past is lost. A sorcerer's spell has wiped Maea of all her memories, including the prophecy that can save her kingdom.

Maea is trapped at court, controlled by her foster mother who wants to use Maea's power to see into the future for her own gain. At court, secrets and betrayal are common fare and Maea's powers give anyone who controls her the advantage. With no one to trust, she can only rely on herself to break the curse. When she meets the charming prince Adair, she thinks he is just another courtier intent on using her. His reputation as a rogue proceeds him, and she has no intention of being his next conquest. But his offer to help her break the curse is too good to be passed up.

Together they uncover a plot that stretches back centuries and centers on Maea's family. Her quest has thrust Maea into the middle of a struggle for thrones. If she chooses the wrong side, she just may lose her head. With lives on the line, Maea must use her powers to find who to trust before it is too late.

Intriguing

This is a story that will keep you involved all the way through. The mystery of not knowing the past, wondering what the connections between people are, and what darkness is shadowing over everyone. I enjoyed the story and the narrator did a good job with the story as well. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

A great read!

What a wonderful start to a series! Narrator Anna Castiglioni did an amazing job at transporting the listener into a world full of mystery and politics. I was so engaged throughout the book I just couldn't push pause. The characters were so distinct and each had unique qualities. I found myself unable to determine who to trust and who Maea could rely on truly. The setting was vivid and imaginable. I loved all the secrets and intrigue that kept the story flowing and kept the listener curious and always wanting more! I can't wait to get my hands on book two.

Book 1 of Trilogy....Ends on Cliffhanger

Diviner’s Prophecy by Nicolette Andrews is book one in the Diviner’s Trilogy that I listened to on audio narrated by Anna Castigloni. This book is outside my usual reading genre but I did enjoy it and look forward to reading book two Diviner’s Curse. I did find the story to be a bit slow, but Nicolette did pull me in and I had to know how it was going to end. Anna did a great job narrating. I enjoyed the different voices she used for the different characters. I cannot wait to find other projects that she has worked on. The book does end on a cliffhanger. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Fantasy or Royal storylines.

Baskerville Book Reviews

I really couldn’t get into this story at all. I wouldn’t say it was poorly written, it just felt like all the story consisted of was boring, back and forth court politics and drama. What really killed it for me though was the narration.

I might have gone back to give the audiobook a second listen, about halfway through. But I just couldn’t stand the narration of the audiobook. The narrator is pretty good at acting. She just never seems to take a breath or pause. It sounds like she’s speed-reading the entire thing as if she’s in a hurry. Dialogue and conversation lack the natural pauses that a real conversation has as she just barrels through everything.

3.45/5 Decent start to a much wider tale

Summary: A girl gets visions of the future and finds herself at the center of dangerous political games.
Additional Comments:
• No ending. The end is more like the ent of Act 1. Large portions of the story are therefore unresolved.
• Characters are okay. Maea's powers are cool. I loved Princess Sabine.
• Plot kind of meandered. The beginning didn't make much sense. Johai and the lady stole her memories? Why?
• The thing with the handsome prince didn't seem to make much sense either. One second she's appalled by his casual sex with a lady during a party. And the next she's inextricably attracted to him.
• The end twist was decently handled.
Conclusion: The beginning of a much longer tale that doesn't really hold up on its own, but if you're willing to read the whole trilogy, it offers a lot of magic and political intrigue.

Good enough to continue series

This is an interesting first book.
The main character is a diviner that can see the future.
3 star read
Court politics to the extreme, the fmc doesn’t know who to trust as well as trying to get her memories back.

Nothing is as it seems.

Narration was good, voice fits the theme of the book.
This is definitely a YA novel.

HEA? not yet
Smut? No this book is 100% YA
Love interest? Yes and no. As memories return this changes.

First book is good enough to continue the series.

Gifted audio in exchange for an honest review.

Politics & Betrayal

I enjoyed this first book of the "Diviner's Trilogy" series. The story was convoluted and could be confusing unless one listened very carefully, which I thought just added to the intricacy of the plot. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Anna Castiglioni's narration was fine, but it took me several chapters to get accustomed to the harp music between the chapters. I understand that this music was used to signal the end of the chapter, but for a long time I found it distracting and it took me out of the story. Once I started to get used to it, the music was fine. I did enjoy the song at the end of the book. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

idk

I don't really know quite what to think about this yet...this is book 1 of the Diviner's Trilogy and the first book I've read / listened to by this author. While the story line was okay I found it a bit confusing to keep all the character's straight and then there's all the plot twists and deception involved you don't really know who is to be trusted (which I thought added a bit to the suspense and thrill of read). I also really have to say that the narrator didn't really do a whole lot for me on this read. I felt she was a bit monotone...the longer I listened I was able to pick up on pitch changes to tell another character was speaking or a vision was taking place but really I thought it could have been delivered better. I really hate writing so much negative because overall I really did think this was a pretty good read and I'm looking forward to seeing where this series takes me, because now I'm invested in Maea's story
