Publisher's summary

When an enormous and potent alien ship appears in the colony system of Gliese 370, EarthFleet's Marines must investigate. What they find within will change the course of humanity's future yet again, as they face Desolator. The risks are high and so is the price in blood - and the payoff: new technology far ahead of their own, which may provide the key to fight the alien Meme Empire.

I just cant do it anymore Artie...

What did you like best about Desolator? What did you like least?

It will be the last Vandyke/Sievers book I ever listen to. YEAH!!!

Would you recommend Desolator to your friends? Why or why not?

NO! The shark has been jumped with a dead horse.

Would you be willing to try another one of Artie Sievers’s performances?

Never. His three voices he uses have finally worn through my last nerve.

Did Desolator inspire you to do anything?

End this series and never pick it back up again.

Any additional comments?

Got hooked on the plague wars with the prequel and loved it (when DJ gets the plague). The switch to Sievers really drags the entire series down. Bad voice acting, three voices, and takes characters with depth and flattens them out in to monolithic cutouts. I forced my way through the PW books as I like the story, through Artie's voice acting, and Jill's drop into being a mom, but this series is just beating a dead horse. You could say the shark has officially been jumped.

changing narators??????

story was good but the narrator change made it confusing to follow trying to re-establish voices for characters.

The series gets better as it continues.

Would you try another book from David VanDyke and/or Artie Sievers?

Artie is OK. Just OK. Why on earth they switched from Mark Boyett is beyond me. Mark is one of the best narrators out there. Mark Boyett, Sean Runnette, Michael Kramer, Luke Daniels, Dick Hill and Kate Reading are all in a league of their own. To give up Mark for Artie is just baffling.

If you’ve listened to books by David VanDyke before, how does this one compare?

I like the addition of new races.

Decent Enough Military Sci-fi

Some cool concepts throughout the story with a healthy dose of action make this good for a quick READ during the commute. The voice of the narrator was relentlessly irritating. It's as if a teenage fan took it upon himself to record the book and read the prose like a high school ROTC cadet reads marching orders. It took an otherwise palatable story and made it unenjoyable.

Horrible performance

What would have made Desolator better?

Bring back the Mark Boyett. The new narrator was absolutely horrible and ruined the entire story....

Not well written or performed

The first book in the series was much better, I couldn't finish this one... I do not recommend it.

Confusing

Completely confused and lost. Too much of confusion and fighting. I finally lost interest.
