Riggs 2.0 comes full circle

The saga that began after book ten of the “Star Force,” series, the beginning of the Cody Riggs odyssey, finally reaches some closure in book twelve, “Demon Star. I found the first part of the series with Cody’s father, Kyles, a more compelling story but Cody’s “Lost in Space” adventure trying to find his way home after inadvertently going through a worm hole and encountering many different alien life forms while trying to find out who tried to murder him a story worth listening to. There are some interesting surprises while questions are answered and the ending leaves the door open for the series to continue.
Mark Boyett is still consistently great as the voice of this series.

An action-packed Adventure full of story progression

This action-packed installment was my personal favorite of the series. Fans of the series will enjoy this installment and I found it to be full of action and story progression. Cody Riggs makes mistakes battles aliens all the while bargaining width Marvin The robot for help showing himself to be his father son in true. For my part the authors did a great job with making the story come full circle check it out I think you will enjoy it.

Possible end point for the Kyle and Cody Riggs & nano-ship saga

This is book 12 and still fun and interesting. Of all exploratory/military science fiction not carried by a publisher. This book and the entire series was just amazing. The author starts with some very simple and believable technologies that are quite clearly on the horizon. And takes them to a fun speculative place that is populated by a wide variety of life forms. But what kept things from becoming boring like so much hard sci-fi is that the main characters were vivid and central. They were not just pawns for one mans speculation about an alien or tech scenario. And that along with lovable characters, well painted vicarious experiences from sex to nano injection to tightly drawn battle scenes, that make the reader effortlessly jump from book to book and not get bored. That they have been able to keep things fresh without too much redundancy for this many episodes is a real testament. Anyone who like military or light science speculation with lots of adventure will love these books. They were a genuine delight for me while I was needing the solace of a book, or in this case a well performed book on audio. Every book involves you, gives you a bit to speculate on, and lots to feel vicariously. Everything a well told story should do. I would recommend it to any Sci-fi reader or listener. Well written and terrifically performed.

Worth the wait!

I wanted to hear this book months ago, but I knew the audio wouldn't be released until November 17th. So I saved a credit and purchased Demon Star that day. I love this book. Really. I've heard all of them, but this one takes the cake. It is rewarding and never has a dull moment.

I think every sci-fi fan should read these books, but even if they start with this one, it's a good place to begin. What a great book. Let's hear it for Cody and Marvin!

Okay, now I'll be waiting for number 13. I hope Larson writes another dozen in the series - at least.

Great sci fi, hokey relationships

This series has some of the most creative, intelligent, and interesting sci fi around! The relationships are hokey however, but that's a side show. Nice work!

Great story line

I enjoyed this mates installment in the series. Mark doe his usual great job narrating and his ability to Change his voice and accent to depict the various characters in the story does a fantastic job of bringing them to life. The only thing about the story line that troubled me was that the character Kyle Riggs was not more involved. He appears briefly at the start and finish of the story. Based on his actions in previous novels I find it hard to believe he would stay in retirement and not take any action. I won't say anything more for fear of spoiling the story for others. Having said that if you are a Riggs and Star force fan I recommend this latest installment to you.

A MediocreEnd to a Great Series

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mark Boyett is easily one of my favorite narrators. I have not listened to anything from him and been disappointed in any way in his reading. He is one of the narrators I will search for to find another good series.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the entire Star Force saga immensely. This last book you can tell that Larson has already grown tired of the story line and has moved on, a point illustrated in the fact that he has needed other authors help to finish this series. The saga became an old friend in the end and I have enjoyed the hours of entertainment. Thank you...

Was alright...

Mark Boyette gave a great performance as usual. But the story didn't keep my interest as the previous books had. I know this is a spin off off the original nano ship books, but something is missing. Open for a forth in the series, yes I'll buy that one too.
