Publisher's summary

A crashed wedding. A scorned vampire. Here comes the blood…

Necromancer Damian Vesik is no hero. At least, not according to the magical community that turns a blind eye to his battles against evil. So he chalks it up as one more thankless mission when he’s forced to stop his vampire sister from murdering her ex’s entire bridal party....

Infiltrating the ceremony to protect the innocent, Damian uncovers something even more sinister than a massacre. With the help of his berserker fairy friend, he may need to prevent an unholy union between ancient demons and the walking dead.

Damian has one chance to stop his sister and ruin the wedding before one hell of an afterparty dooms the world.

Days Gone Bad is the first book in the savagely funny Vesik urban fantasy series. If you like gritty action, undead enemies, and plenty of snark, then you’ll love Eric R. Asher’s heart-stopping tale.

I'll probably get the next book

Narrator was good. Not what I expected, but good. A good start to a series.

Phenomenal Start to an AMAZING series!

"Days Gone Bad," had me sucked in at chapter one. There is a wealth of characters with depth and mystery and wit that make you want to delve into each one of them to see how they tick! Mr. Eric Asher, took a genre that has been written and rewritten so many times and made it new and intriguing. For me the testament of an outstanding book is if when I put it down I'm ready to pick it back up again, well this audio version brought me to whole new level of fandom. The narrator has a way of bringing these outstanding characters to life and I certainly cannot wait for the second book in the series to be ready for consumption.

Very Good!

I enjoyed this book very much. It has an original spin despite the countless contemporary fantasy novels written and it doesn't seem to adopt or encroach on anyone's ideas. In fact, the author has an unique way of spinning the tale into the action of the story line leaving the reader no worse for wear nor with questions, but simple answers delivered once then a world of magic within.

Not A Bad Start 2 a Series

I wasn't exactly sure what to think, when I first started to listen to this book. The first few lines & a few beyond still had me unsure of how good or bad this might be. This isn't as good to me as say The Iron Druid Chronicles, but is will probably end up being a book series I work my way through irregardless.

Wonderful Urban Fantasy

This is story is loaded full of everything you could want in an urban fantasy. Fairies and vampires, magic and more. William Dufris makes the characters come to life in a exciting and passionate way. Fantastic book.

Like Dresden, but definitely hold's its own.

What made the experience of listening to Days Gone Bad the most enjoyable?

William Dufris. He brought the perfect voices, cadence, etc to the characters.

What other book might you compare Days Gone Bad to and why?

Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron Druid Chronicles.
Same type of genre, modern day supernatural.

What about William Dufris’s performance did you like?

Holy crap William was the perfect narrator for this series. I liked him in the Old Man's War series and I wasn't sure how I'd like him in this series, until I finished the first chapter and realized that not even Luke Daniels would be as good as William is for this series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, definitely yes. I am big fan of this type of story, but the combo of Eric and William, holy rusted metal Batman!

Any additional comments?

Eric does a great job of creating a world for Vesik and his band of buddies, and he has a great banter between characters that William really brought to life. Looking forward to the next 4 books.

If you like the Iron Druid series

Like the headline says, if you like the Iron Druid series, you'll like this too. It's not about gods & druids, but the writing style is similar and the narrator reminds me or Luke Daniels. Funny & lots of paranormal action. I actually bought this on sale & had it in my library as a backup book for a few months. Needless to say, I was way more than pleasantly surprised when I finally listened. Definitely worth the credit or money. Will definitely buy more from this author & narrator.

breathless

A snarky necromancer, a Vampire sister, giant fairy warrior living in his clock, zombies, ghosts including a panda who acts like a puppy... so much happens with so many characters but this is beautifully written and the narrator voices each character perfectly. The intense action interspersed with tension releasing wise cracks left me alternating between holding my breath and laughing out loud.
