The narrator was painful!

What did you like best about Darkwalker on Moonshae? What did you like least?

The story was good and entertaining.

Would you be willing to try another book from Douglas Niles? Why or why not?

Yes I would be willing, but not with the same narrator. The story was compelling enough so that I want to continue the series, but I cannot listen to that narrator again.

Yes, but it needs to be read by another person.

I hope someone realizes how awful the performance was. The sound quality was terrible. There were moments when she sounded like she was in a tunnel, and then a second later had the mic too close to her mouth. Her starts and stops were distracting and frankly aggravating. I bought both the first and second novel on the same order, and I wish I hadn't done that because the narrator was so bad I will not listen to the second book.

good old fashion Fantasy adventure

To be brief the storyline is very classic D&D. My only true problem with this story is that I feel the narrator was trying to be to goofy with many of the characters. I didn't always feel like I was listening to a different character or scene so I had trouble change scenes in my head.

Great fantasy where the battles make you hair stand up!

I read this book long ago when I was a young child. Just reread it again 17 years later and love it still! The battle scenes are amazing and the characters are ones you really start vesting emotions into. I recommend the whole series.

worst storyteller ever.

felt like she was reading to a 3 year old. hire someone better. please remake.

Did someone listen to this before it's release?

i had read the trilogy many years ago and enjoyed it. Typical fantasy adventure novel so nothing really special about it. Narrator was aweful. The voices were inconsistent and quite often robotic. The reading often times was rovotic as well. The effort to annunciate every syllable and sometimes even every letter was almost excruciating. There was no tenderness in the voice during emotional moments, no excitement of voice during tense and/or battle situations. At times the reader seemed completely bored and couldn't wait to get it over with. "B" for the book but an "F" for the reading.

worst narator ever

love the story which i read after trying this abomination. Im hoping this was a digital version of some 80s book on tape.. Who decided this narrator was it And which kindergarten did they hire her from?

Great book, hideous narration - avoid

I loved this book when it first came out, so I purchased the trilogy on Audible. That was a huge waste of money. I couldn't get past the 3rd chapter with the narrator saying Fuh-folk when 5 seconds on the internet will tell you Ffolk is pronounced Folk. As bad as that was, normal English words were mangled like a ship's bow pronounced like a bow tie instead of bough, stalwart as stale-wart, fealty as feetly, tankard of meat, galleon as gally-on, etc. The voice was totally ruining the story for me - and the entire trilogy. What a huge disappointment and waste of money

Performance meh, not as good as I remembered

Remember reading these about 20 years ago. Saw it on audible and thought I’d relive the fond memories. I don’t know if it was the performance or my misremembered past but very difficult for me to focus on.

Good story, questionable narration editing

I originally read this book years ago, and found I remembered nothing of it. So, I was thrilled to see it as an audiobook.

The story is good... but the narrator... wasn't bad... more so, some pronunciation issues and then the bad part was the bits where the audio cut in and out and it was obvious she recorded a line. stopped. Recorder another. And then the audio level would change suddenly...

Im disappointed a FR book from WotC would lack quality in editing.

Still, it's a good book!! I still recommend it.

look forward to the rest of this trilogy. great start to tease you into continuing.
