Publisher's summary

Damien St. Cloud is a failure. Born with the most powerful soul force anyone has ever seen, he can't get it to work. The next in a long line of warlords, Damien is a disappointment to his legendary father and a weakling compared to his perfect sister.

Everything changes when a visiting sorcerer proclaims Damien isn't a warlord at all but a sorcerer! Damien is thrust into a world of magic and intrigue, war and death. Behind the scenes a dark and ancient evil is rising once more, intent on destroying everything Damien cares about.

Can Damien, along with his sister and allies, expose this evil and save the kingdom?

Character development

I really enjoyed the development of the main character as well as the story it kept my imagination rolling and had me hooked within the first few chapters!

EXCELLENT START TO NEW SERIES.

Interesting plot and storyline. Damian St. Cloud, a young protagonist with a powerful gift. Growing up with a demanding father trying to mould him to what he is not! A difficult childhood. When he come into his own that's when the actions start. Very well performed by Vikas Adam, who is one of my favourite narrators. His voices for both males and females are fantastic. The story is well written by James E, Wisher and flows smoothly throughout. Good. I have already downloaded the next two books and am looking forward to continuation of the series. Well worth a credit.!

Good Story, distracting narration

The story has the elements of a 4 star rating but for the halting and non-fluid narration. The whole concept of inward and outward focused magic to determine a person's affinity toward being a warlord or sorcerer was different and used to good effect in providing an understandable context to Damien's personality.

The whole sub-thread with him having a fetish-like relationship with his father's incubus-like demon sword, to an extent of shunning real female relationships, was a bit, um, freaky but, hey, who am I to be judgemental?!

I am a bit conflicted as to whether of not to follow this series due to the off-putting narration so I will put it in my 2nd tier follow-up list for now.

Story line was fine but missing details

booked seemed like it was leaving large holes in between chapters and plot development. Had potential but immature plot creation. recommend book for non adult readers

Disappointed

Honestly there is so much potential but the lack details and pushing information out of nowhere is annoying, I would have liked more detail In the magic system but he's pretty much just OP after 3 yrs no details into why or how he learn to use his abilities

narrator is passable

narrator is passable but hard to here. when he dose kids or has to show deep emotion in an adult it makes me cringe. its odd sounding the way the mc is in love with a sword that sounds like and out of breath mule when her part comes up.

Great Story, Poor Narration

Fantastic story, but the Narrator should have been someone else. This narrator doesnt have a very diverse voice making most of the male (and pretty much all the female) characters sound the same. Great story though, in fact it is so good that I will definitly be getting the other books in this series despite the poor narration.

good story but...

I really didnt like the first couple chapters, the main character is a boy in love with a demon trapped in a sword. then when he gets to school his teacher is shameless flirt, that borders sexual harassment. I almost stopped there. but my brother said that the story gets really good once you get past the first chapters and it did once you get to the main storyline. so yeah... The real saving grace is the reader is really awesome and does a great job.
