Publisher's summary

"It's too late to save myself, but I'll save her, even if it kills me."

When Akil leaves a nine-year-old half-blood girl on Muse's doorstep, it's not long before the demons come hunting. But this time, Muse isn't the target. The Institute, Muse's immortal brother, and the Princes of Hell all want a piece of the little half-blood. What's so special about Dawn, and why has Akil conveniently disappeared just as Muse needs answers?

To save the half-blood girl, Muse must first save herself, but is it already too late? Muse's humanity is failing. Her demon hungers. The darkness coiled around her heart lures her toward madness. And all that stands between Muse and her demon's lust for destruction is the hope that some half-bloods do get happy endings.

The veil weakens. Titles will fall. A new prince rises. And if Muse can't stop them, the demons will have their day.

This series just keeps getting better

Would you listen to Darkest Before Dawn again? Why?

I have referred this series to several of my friends that are really enjoying Pippa's writing.

This series is NOT for people that are what I would consider overly Christian/religious. This is for open minded Fantasy readers. If you don't like reading about demons being okay....these books are NOT for you.

As open minded as I am....even I cringed a few times.

I bought the whole series and listened to them enjoying them. I even took the audiobooks with me in the car.

What did you like best about this story?

I cannot say without doing spoilers.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

Great narrator. I have started tracking her readings and buying audible books based on the fact that she is reading.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The way she lost her wing was really upsetting. She has been through so much, and that demon was just a serious jerk......of course demons are jerks....so he was playing is part.

Any additional comments?

Like I said before, if you have a problem with Demons being okay....do not read this series of books/audio or kindle versions.

Mother of Destruction

Pippa Dacosta has blown me away. This woman can write! She's a perfect story teller, an amazing author. From the first page, Pippa draws you in and for me I felt like I was there in the story. She left me an emotional wreck and completely drained. I must say that I truly love Muse and Stefan. I was surprised at the time Muse and Akil spent together and then being together. I really want Muse and Stefan together. I'm not going to go into this story because this is one you MUST listen or read for yourself. There's New characters to like Dawn a half demon little 9 year old who is a strong demon, one that others believe needs to die.
Hollie Jackson did an amazing job as she told this story. I think her performance continues to grow with each story. She is very talented and she kept me glued to this story from start to finish. I can't wait to hear book #4 when it comes out on Audible. Overall, a perfect 5 🌟 rating.

I am loving this series!

Each book has been better than the previous book. I wish there was more than one more book to read. As soon as I finish this review I'm going to start the next book.

saying goodbye

I have tried to stay with this series but this is the last one for me. Muse, the protagonist, is victimized because she is half demon and half human. She is constantly whinnying and in situations where she is either abused physically or emotionally by male demons and humans.

Yes, before the end of the story she will blaze up in righteousness. But it is not permeant to change her circumstances. To be fair, that is the premise of the book. I cannot expect her behavior to be outside of author’s characterization. Unfortunately, Muse in not the strong independent character that I like to read about.
