Publisher's summary

Cassandra Palmer may be the all-powerful Pythia now, but that doesn't mean people have stopped trying to kill her. Most of the supernatural power players don't want independent-minded Cassie as chief clairvoyant - and they'll stop at nothing to see her six feet under.

The Vampire Senate does support Cassie in her position, but their protection comes with a price: an alliance with the sexy master vampire Mircea, who has claimed Cassie as his own. But even the vampires will have trouble keeping Cassie alive now that the self-styled god Apollo, the source of the Pythia's power, has it in for her in a big way.

To save her life - and the world - Cassie's going to have to face down her creator once and for all.

Spend some more time with Cassandra Palmer.

Best book in the series so far!!!

Karen Chance really hit her stride with this installment, the evolving partnership between Cassie and Pritkin is fabulous, and left me rolling with laughter! I had almost lost interest with this series, and am really glad I decided to try one more book. Now I'm hooked and hoping the next one is equally as much fun.

Keep Them Coming

This is a great book. An easy listen and a fun, quick romp through a magical world that, frankly, I wish I lived in. Cassie Palmer is quirky, and although maybe not a fully 'rounded' character, she has an arc that shows some major personality. Plus, she's spunky, and I like it! Narrator is really great, following the numerous action sequences easily now and giving every character their own inflections and nuances. You really need to start from the beginning with this series, too much is happening to try to catch up and really get into it. Every book gets better!

Karen Chance + Cynthia Holloway = MAGIC

Book 4 finds Cassie desperately trying to find someone to help her learn to use her new Pythian powers. She tries to make nice with the Silver Circle but they refuse to recognize her as Pythia and place a bounty on her head. Apollo and his allies are also after her.

In an effort to protect her, Mircea puts Cassie in the penthouse at Dantes surrounded by powerful golden-eyed master vampires. All this protection has Cassie feeling like a prisoner. Her struggles to get some respect as Pythia lead to some wild adventures and hilarious situations. I love the scenes with Marco and the vampire bodyguards. Marco instantly became one of my favorite characters in the series.

This the best book in the series so far. It is clever, original, imaginative and laugh out loud funny. Karen Chance is at her best when she writes comic scenes and Cynthia Holloway is an awesome voice actress! I think Holloway must do voice-overs because she can create so many different character voices. Despite all the time travel, some of the funniest and most memorable scenes in this series take place in Dante's Casino in Vegas.

So good

I loved this book. I can't wait for the next book to come out. The narrator is one of the best I have heard and the book is exciting. This series is definitely worth checking out.

Just love the story!

The characters and the follow of the story is wonderful. The interaction between the main character and the guys she has to deal with is just side splitting fun.

Finally

Cassie, Mircea, and Pritkin are back and dysfunctional as ever. In this installment, the world's chief clairvoyant tries to be assertive, stay alive and oh yeah, kill a god in her spare time. This is just a fun series. The author is witty and the characters are ridiculous and I love it all. Holloway is a solid narrator but is unable to produce a British accent for Pritkin.

Excellent Overall but...

1 main plot point slightly unbelievable but so well written and funny that you don't really care.

Keeps getting better!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I really like all the action and creative writing!

Any additional comments?

The author needs to wrap up the love triangle! It's time to rely on her writing for something other than keeping this love triangle going and going and going!! I have who I'd like her to finally choose but it's not Pritkin.....sorry!

Great story, Horrid pronunciation

If you could sum up Curse the Dawn in three words, what would they be?

Supernatural action romance

What was one of the most memorable moments of Curse the Dawn?

The lay line car chase was well written and fun.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cynthia Holloway’s performances?

Only if I REALLY wanted to know the story. Big tip: If a word is used frequently, learn how to pronounce it! "Malevolent" has only one "N" in it, sister, and it ain't in the beginning. As far as I know, "menevolent" isn't a word

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I have no idea. This is a stupid question.

Any additional comments?

Yes, the story here is heavily reliant upon the other books in the series, so if you are a "Cassie Palmer" beginner, start at the beginning, and do the series right. You'll enjoy the trip much more. That said, the series only gets better (except, of course, for the performance, which continues to be badly pronounced). As far as the supernatural element goes, just go with it-- suspension of disbelief is a happy thing, and this series/book will go anywhere it damn well pleases. Ghosts? Check. Vampires? Check. Fey? Check. Pissed off ancient Greek gods? Double check. If you haven't heard of a weird creature, don't worry-- Cassie/Karen Chance is very nice about explaining everything and its relationship to the other things.

Great story!

I really love these books! They're full of sexy funny adventure - the characters are great and just the right amount of imperfect (i.e. they're human). You'd like to meet each of them. The world building is well done, the dialog is witty, and the plot is interesting and surprising.

The reader is pretty good. I like her tone of voice for Cassie. She can sound a little stiff at times and she mispronounces a word here and there, but its a small annoyance and doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the book.
