Publisher's Summary

The only possible thing that could make Morgan's world even more difficult happened. The Japanese fleet off the coast of California was wiped out. An even that Morgan and friends and family only knew about because of the radio broadcasts from the Radio Free Redoubt. So far removed from them it barely warranted notice. That is until the Chinese retaliated by launching a nuclear counter-strike against Mac Dill Air Force base. This, did warrant their attention and had the potential to profoundly impact their lives.

As bad as the fear of nuclear fallout was, it wasn't the only threat still haunting northern Lake county. With proof the Russians had pathfinder units on the ground, at a minimum, in the state and discovery of Cuban forces cooperating with them, something had to be done. After encountering armored units and realizing they were ill equipped to deal with the threat, the old man called for help. The call was answered, but would require a near impossible trip by truck to Eglin Air Force base. America was certainly on the ropes, but she wasn't down yet.

All Morgan wants to do is protect his family and friends. To restore a normal sense of life. To see to it Mel and his girls are safe and protected. He doesn't want to get involved in these military actions. He's more focused on trying to restore power to town. But his desires are, to use a military term, overtaken by circumstances, and, once again, Morgan and his friends are compelled to get involved. And this time, it will cost them.

Not what I am used to from this series - Very slow

This installment was my least favorite so far... I REALLY liked this series up to this book, but I don't know what happened, it was like 9ne thing that I didn't need to know, or another that I didn't care about after another... It actually made me care less about the characters after it, than I did coming into it... I don't think that is how it is supposed to go (with a few exceptions of tragic circumstances)... It just makes me wonder if this is a series I will continue, or if I should move along and appreciate that it was a good run while it lasted (this wouldn't be the first series that stalled out on me, nor will it be the last, I am sure... Maybe it will come down to me watching reviews for upcoming books instead of pre-ordering as I have been?? I will just have to see how my 8nterest is with what comes next... This book however, was a disappointment for someone like me who looks forward to the next EXCITING AND ADVENTUROUS installment after pre-ordering and finishing each installment within a week, if not a day or two... I think that level of anticipation is gone for this series...

good listen

A. American with another pleasing listen about Morgan and his band of misfits. Not as action packed as previous storylines but nice focus on the characters and trying to get back to something closer to "normal".

a good slow down

it was good to have a day to day look in their lives, and the fact that they have a striker now it will probably be getting pretty hairy soon. because just when things slow down and get a steady pace, BOOM you gets you. I love this series.

The final book did not disappoint!

I love this series. The story lines are great and believable and the story telling by Duke Fontaine was at it's best. A great way to end!

My favorite series. I hope there is more to come.

I have loved this series from the very first book. There is so much time spent on character development, that while listening to the narration I feel as if I am there with the characters, who I have grown to know over many books. I have loved everything about this prepper series. narration is fantastic. I hope the author is not tired of these books, because I'm not. As long as he continues to write them, I'm going to read them.

Good story but production let it down

More of the same from our favourite dystopian community but the pauses and padding in the narration drove me mad. I don't think this was a narrator issue as Duke Fontaine has been good. It just sounded like there was an extended pause between each sentence like each sentence was written on a new page in the book and we had to wait for the page to be turned over. Had to listen to the story at 1.5 times the normal speed to get any enjoyment from this title. Hasn't been an issue in past titles and I hope It's not repeated in the next instalment, or else I'm going to have to call it a day on this series I'm sorry to say.

One of my favourite stories

I am enjoying this ongoing series immensely. Please keep it coming. I found the narration slightly wooden this time but it won’t put me off. Please keep up the good work.
