Publisher's summary

The first book in the historical Kingpriest trilogy, which chronicles the origins and development of a noted figure from the Dragonlance Legends trilogy, linking this new series to one of the most popular trilogies in the entire Dragonlance saga.

The Kingpriests have reigned for centuries in the name of Paladine, the supreme god of good. But danger lurks in the empire's heart. The Kingpriest has foreseen his own death, and dark forces converge on the Temple, vying to control the throne.

Following a prophetic dream, a high priestess of Paladine sets forth in search of a worker of miracles, one who can lead the way to the triumph of light over darkness: the Lightbringer, the true chosen of the gods.

One of Dragonlance's best trilogies.

A must read for any dragonlance fan. The tragedy of blind faith and devotion, court intrigue, noble sacrifice, and much more.

Quite possibly the most important trilogy in Dragonlance after the War of the Lance trilogy.

First attempt of Audible - an amazing experience!

This was my first try on Audible, I have never listened to a full book before in any way.

The tale is narrated masterfully, with different voices, intonations and maneirisms, by the same narrator. The care to tell it as per the sentences, suspense and even humor greatly surprised me. I even imagined that the narration should be a difficult one to follow, since I am Brazilian and English is not my mother language. However, the tale ran smoothly as I made my way from home to work back and again, for around a month, listening the audiobook while driving.

The tale itself is a wonderful story for fans of the Dragonlance world, and brings some great answers and light to a unknown period, with the rise of the Kingpriest of Istar. Mr. Pierson makes an amazing job in describing a entirely different culture of Ansalon, yet curiosly similar for the travalers and followers of this amazing setting, taking his place upon Krynn's Pantheon of talented authors, such as Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

Highly recommended!

Best Non Weis/Hickman book I've read

Amazing narrator and great story. A must for any Dragonlance fan! I avoided reading this for 20 plus years thinking the topic was previously covered territory. But this was so well done and compelling.

Solid...

Solid story, but nothing quite awesome. Will continue with the series. Narration was also solid.
